New Hatsan Bullboss (wood) issue with tube

Hello all,
I received a brand new, out of box bullboss today - super stoked - it’s gorgeous.

ISSUE: fill probe access port is facing inward towards barrel. Unable to charge rifle unless I remove the tube ... every time.

- Is this normal for this particular rifle?

- I don’t want to return it as that is a PITA at the moment, but is it an easy endeavor to reseat the action so when I thread the tube in, the fill access port faces in a direction I can “plug” into?

i haven’t worked on hatsan’s before and would like to know if what I am considering is a simple fix so I don’t mess up a rifle that I could’ve returned.

i plan to send it over to Bwalton in the coming months so it may be a non issue. I believe he is the guru from what I’ve read.

You can fill from both sides. Turn the cove 180 degrees and the port is on the bottom as well.

or you can just turn the tube enough to access the port.

Don't you access the port by rotating the tube, like Seth has said? That is my understanding.

You access the port by rotating the plastic cover. The port goes all the way through so you can access it on the other side if it's under the barrel its on the bottom too

Thanks everyone. I ended up reseating the tube with access port facing away from barrel.
The fix: tube inserted (but not connected) , ‘Simply had to lightly turn tube opposite direction until a subtle “notch” was detected at the connection point, then tighten to the right accordingly. It worked I never would have thunk it...my new neighbor showed me this while simultaneously declaring my obvious lack of mechanical ingenuity.

btw, what pellets shoot the best in your Bullboss’es? I only used two thusfar as the gun is new. Benjamin and H&N grizzly. Really like the grizzlies but they didn’t arrive in too good of condition so I’m getting OK results

My Bull boss synthetic likes JSB 25s and JSB 34s non MK II. It seems that the bore on the Hatsans is slightly oversize and needs the additional diameter of the the standard JSB 34s.

Thanks for the info on ammo. Just ordered 5 tins of the 34s.
I really like the Grizzly's - they are devastating - just haven't been able to get 5/5 consistency. More like 3/5

You're right about that! I have to consciously ration them - waaaay better in the accuracy department. 75yd gopher FRI evening...
