I would find out what pellet your rifle is most accurate with first off?
Maybe a pellet sampler to test different pellets in your Fusion to see what she prefers best?

Pyramyd Air is the great place to buy pellets once you find what your rifle likes.

Don't think I would try anything heavier than the 18 gr JSB's, but they do make a 34 gr .22 cal, but I would think that would best for a really high powered PCP rifle?

If I had to guess, I would assume your Fusion would be better suited for something in the 14 to 18 gr range?

Thanks much.I have a 'pellet sampler'(different weight pellets) coming also.I have a 15 yard range in the basement all set up for testing :)

"RTR"Hi all.
Been a long time shooter of center-fire & rim-fire.Decided to give these "airguns" a try.Ordered a Gamo Whisper Fusion in 22 Cal. It Will be delivered the 15th. Looks like you guys are having a lot of fun.And a lot of good info. here.
I'm a USAF Vietnam combat vet (14th Special Ops Wing).

Welcome to Airgun Nation. We have a lot of common hobbies. I think you'll find that a lot of current airgun enthusiasts are former (or also current) powderburner (PB) enthusiasts. When I got into airguns in a big way a few years ago, I was just dipping my toes in the water. I did not expect it to take hold; thought it would be a low-key distraction to PBs. In a lot of ways, it's more fun.

I'm an Army Reserves veteran, though not a war veteran. (did my time between the gulf wars) I've wanted to try metal detecting, but never have gotten around to it. Can you give me any pointers on choosing a metal detector via Personal Message here?

I roll my own ammo for centerfire PBs on the now-rare occasions when I shoot.

Who's the guy in your avatar pic?

Regarding the incoming airgun, I hope it works out well for you. Look for tips on shooting a springer well; search for "artillery hold" as a good start. Spring piston or gas piston airguns ("springers") are harder to shoot well than PBs, because there are things slamming around inside the gun while the pellet is still in the barrel. If your hold is not absolutely consistent, it is impossible to shoot these springers well.

Enjoy your stay.

"T3PRanch"Welcome.

RTR you can't post pictures directly to this site. You have to post them to a hosting site and then post a link which is unfortunate because as time goes on many pictures disappear when hosting accounts are canceled.

Thanks.Guess I'll have to sign up on one.Any of them free ? Or just short term free ?

Welcome RTR. Great sport, great forum, great guys. Don't be afraid to ask questions, folks are happy to help out. I knew NOTHING about guns and now I at least have a sense of what I'm doing. If you like your break barrel Gamo and like shooting it. My sense is that you'll be getting a PCP at some point. This is when it really gets fun. Most these days are crazy accurate and powerful. Enjoy and WELCOME.
