New gas ram rifle

I promised myself that six months after triple bypass surgery, when I was officially 100% healed, I would buy a break barrel rifle. (My other air rifles are CO2.) I chose a Benjamin Trail NP2 because the cocking effort is relatively low and it is highly rated. Since the scope that came with it is generic low quality, I put on a 3-9x40 AO scope which works well and looks great.

The first time I tried it I was able to get off about a dozen shots before I tired, but now I'm up to 25-30 (which is as much as I generally shoot one of my rifles in one session). As most of you know, because of the recoil you have to try different holds to get good accuracy. I started out using the artillery hold on sandbag rests to get the rifle/scope combo sighted in and have moved on to pressing the stock into my shoulder fairly firmly for greater accuracy.

Some have complained about the trigger, but to me this is a hunting rifle so I don't want a sensitive trigger, especially in the second stage.

I did notice that I needed to tighten the scope rings and the shroud-barrel screws (making sure not to over-tighten them!) at the end of the day. I hope that they'll stay tight from now on.

Overall I really like the rifle and the scope. I also hope that my shooting will improve as I get used to the gas ram system.
