New GAMO Whisper Fusion Mach 1

Arrived today.

First impressions:

1. I was surprised at how hard it is to cock compared to my HW30s and other break barrels. I'm sure I will get used to it but was just surprised.

2. Whoever decide to call it "Whisper" should really be fired from GAMO and banned from ever working in the air gun field again. lol... This is the only air gun I have ever had to wear earplugs to shoot! Admittedly I am shooting in a long narrow hallway, into a garage, and the hallway is all tile and hard walls with no softening materials like carpet, etc, but this thing is LOUD. For comparison my Crosman Vigilante CO2 pistol is an order of magnitude quieter. No ear plugs needed for that one.

3. The scope is about as expected and more than adequate for my intended 10 - 15 meter shooting distance for right now.

4. The trigger seems ok, smooth, consistent, clean break, though a bit heavier than expected. After a few hundred shots I will probably try the longer screw fix to lighten it.

5. Not an issue with the rifle, or GAMO at all...but as a side note of possible interest to some folks....Several reviews I've read mentioned using Crosman Premier 7.9gr Super Point pellets in this rifle. I'd need a hammer to get one of those into this barrel. I have several pellet guns, rifles and pistols, and those pellets only fit into the Vigilante clips, and they are very tight in those. The pellets do not fit into any other gun that I have.

Overall I'm pleased with what I got for the price.

177 Crosman Premier Super Points 7.9gr are only for oversized 177 caliber barrels that don't shoot normal sized diameter pellets well that fit really loose. Probably a Chinese or old Webley UK or Beeman label Chinese barrel for example.

They don't shoot any good in most normal 177 guns.

The 7.4gr Crosman pointeds shoot a lot better.

Agree on the 7.4 pellets. Those are really consistent and accurate in all of my air guns.

I emailed Crosman about the 7.9's not fitting into my guns and they responded that they "only guarantee our pellets will fit in our guns".

I have an old Chinese B3 air rifle from Cummins Tool company that cost $20. The 7.9's don't fit in it either.
