I mean I hear you Goldwing, I don’t really understand (the magazine thing) they’re air guns. But then again I’m also pretty deaf in one ear (That darn global war on terrorism). To each his own. But with that being said was attacking the new product necessary? In reality they gave good improvements from one gun to another, and the second gun has different benefits in that type of stock. You saying “Smoke and mirrors” is you being upset cause your ears hurt. It’s annoying because comments like that deter people from trying out something they may not have tried before. Especially when the experienced people dog it for no reason. It’s like the big brother effect which is big on this forum especially cause newbies come here for the experience and knowledge.

You hit that nail on the head, but I’m thinking not in the way you intended.
you’re absolutely right by saying newbies come here to get experienced views on guns before buying or trying. I do the same as an “experienced” shooter. Problem is, if they’re getting exactly what goldwing stated (smoke and mirrors), even from the members here, they’re not going to get the answers they want. Objectified opinions are what help people make decisions. Maybe someone with tinnitus doesn’t want their ears to ring every time they shoot. That’s a big deterrent for some. Doesn’t bother me at all, but that’s my opinion over someone else. We’re not here to just state facts, we’re here to give our opinions, and hope it helps others.
I personally think they totally ruined the look of the wildcat. Again, my opinion. Goldwing hates the mag placement…..his opinion…. They’re ALL helpful, and needed when someone is looking to spend their hard earned money on such a large purchase.

Well said on all accounts.

It is experience and knowledge, do I need to say it again or are you blind too? anytime a mag is in the rear your going to get ear damage.

This is why I went to the FX Crown where the action (mag) is in front where it should be similar to real fire arms NOT in your face in the back end of the rifle

Would you be pissed off buying a airgun not knowing it's flaws and after shelling out 2K you selling it for half, It is experience and knowledge

I'll never buy an airgun like the FX Maverick, FX Wildcat or Taipan Veteran ever again It is experience and knowledge

I wonder why no one else has noticed they were getting ear damage shooting a bullpup.

I would guess everyone is different. I have Edguns. Everyone says "they ping". I don't understand that. They make a mechanical hammer-spring noise, but I don't find it objectionable..or loud enough to be "painful". That's just me..or maybe the way I have my guns tuned.

I've shot a friends Mav, and I it is really a lot quieter than my Edguns when it comes to the hammer-spring mechanical noise. And yes, the magazine/breach is near my ear.

I guess it might be possible you could get ear damage from a blown breach o-ring or something, but I doubt the decibel level of a hammer-spring strike would be enough.

Just my opinion from my experiences. Others may be different.

Question to the group:
I'm reading this new Wildcat BT is "exactly the same as a Maverick but with the typical Wildcat stock."
As far as i can tell, Maverick is a bit pricier.
Now why would i pick a Maverick over this new Wildcat BT? Is this just about looks?
I'm sure there are other differences besides the Wildcat stock vs the Mav's more tactical looks right?
Can someone please explain? Thank you.

I have several bottle and Tube guns. I have the original Wildcat 22 caliber. It will shoot 6 magazines on that one tube tank. It will shoulder well. it will bipod and tripod well. now they're throwing a big bottle on the front which is going to make it harder to bi pod, tripod and throw the balance of the gun forward. There was most consistently accurate gun I've ever shot I just think some things are perfect and you could leave them alone

The 60mm bottle clamp with the picatinny rail that Saber Tactical offers solves the tripod issue, If you watch Ted's Holdover video, the balance point (on the compact) is darn near perfectly in the middle and not forward. But, end of the day, shoot what you want. I don't think anything is "ruined" with this new version. It's just another option. And options are always a good thing.

But all they have done is offer another option, they haven’t ruined anything, because they haven’t changed the original Wildcat. The Wildcat is still offered with the tube. I agree that personally I like the tube better, but I don’t have a problem with them offering the bottle version for those that prefer that. In fact I would say it’s a good move more options are good for us.
