New FX Side-Shot (Plastic magazine) fix for Slugs is here.

I have been having issues with FX hybrids laying down sideways using the plastic side-shot magazine that came with my Impact.. I don't know if I received a bad magazine or not, but I have seen others reporting the same issue and others saying they have not had issues, Maybe there was just a bad batch of them. I haven't found where FX has addressed this issue in the forums, or anywhere else. I have been having to hand feed the slugs because of this.

Well not anymore thanks to one of our members here on AGN !!! Orion is the member (Sorry, I don't know his name). I saw him post in the classifieds here an insert he was making that matched the original metal Side-Shot magazines that didn't have this issue. This has resolved my issues when using FX slugs.

I didn't want to say anything about this new insert until I ran it through its paces. Well, I have done that now and am letting others know that there is a rainbow at the end finally thanks to Orion. This new insert is also plastic, but is well made. I also tested it with JSB MKIIs and had no issues with pellets.

The only digs to talk about is the fact that it drops the total count by two. 28 shots down to 26. in .25 cal. No loss in shot count on the .30 cal. The other minor one is that this insert doesn't work so well now with my FieldPro speed loaders, but still kinda does, too. I believe there is a speed loader for the metal mags that would completely resolve this.

I am very pleased with this low cost insert that saved me a bunch of coin over gambling on buying another plastic FX Side-shot magazine. Thank you Orion!

I did get wind that he was opening up some kind of web store or something coming up with lots of neat offerings for our guns. I am looking forward to seeing that.

@triggertreat I'm really happy the replacement part is working well buddy! Yes I have friends that are really frustrated that they couldn't use their magazines to shoot slugs when they bought the entire setup to build a slug gun. It's something that I really don't understand how it happened. I'll be frustrated too I just don't have an FX but what I have is a 3d printer :)

The online store is up but I don't know if it's against the AGN rules to publish the URL here, if you send me a private message I can send you the link if you are interested. I'll contact Michael to ask if I can add the link to the product on this post.

And yes, FieldPro will have the speed loader with 26 shots that will work with this new feeder.

You would think fx would be all over this, getting it resolved themselves ! But I guess they figure they got in your pockets deep enough, who cares if works correctly. It amazes me the things air gun manufactures get away with, and people don’t seem to mind if they have to Jerry rig something to make a 2000.00 gun shoot correctly.

My sentiments exactly! Extremely frustrated with my Wildcat in .177, if only @orion could print me a trinket to make it shoot straight.

After years of owning springers I wanted a pcp and decided to buy an fx to shoot in the back yard with my 5 year old son. First I wanted an dreamline but then learned how floppy the barrel was, then thought maybe an impact. Lucky for me nobody has anything in stock because man would I be pissed if I paid 2k for a gun that shot real tight groups but in a different spot each time. Or $90 plastic magazines that don't line up. These problems seem to be common and I have no clue how they get a pass. Good marketing I guess? If a powder burner manufacturer had issues like this nobody would buy their guns. Hell, I have an AR that I sighted in 10 years ago and it is still spot on at 100 yards.

Thanks guys/gals. I didn't mean to open a can of worms, well maybe a little too to be honest out of my frustration. This FX Impact is my first experience and impression of an FX product. Yes, I'll admit I fell for the Kool-Aid, but am truly happy with it overall. Just a little surprised at this issue. Not there was an error made by FX in my assumptions, but the lack of response from FX to the issues many including myself are experiencing and have posted manty times about, at least in my searches for answers about this. No, I haven't contacted FX about this issue, so I am unfair a bit as I haven't given them a chance to explain. I figure with something like this, it would be an easy search, but came up short many times in finding a possible solution.

The good Lord says to call out the errors you see in those you love. Well, in a similar sense, I love my Impact and I'm calling it out to help.

They look slick, too.

There also is a guy in europe making similiar inserts https://www.oh-snap.dk/vare/magfx/, which work great. I agree the original high capacity magazines for the impact is not good for slugs. They might work for long slugs (have not tested), but shorter medium weight ones will easy flip sideways. The reason is that the cups which feed the slugs are to narrow, and doeas not give enough support on the side on the pellet/slug. They are probably designed that way, to give room for more shots. With custom made inserts, the cups are spaced further apart, and encase the pellet/slug all the way to the side, holding them in place while feeding. Loosing some shots is well worth the benefit of having precise feeding.

In my opinion FX should redesign the mags in a similiar way, so they work better for both pellets and slugs.

Theyve been told...https://www.airgunnation.com/topic/fx-please-fix-your-sideshot-mags/

Told FX Sweden about it too when I made that thread.

Specially on the .25 cal they went greedy and added too many shots there, 28 shots don’t fit well, when I tried, the circle for the pellet overlaps with the next circle and that reduce the size of all circles, even 27 was not perfect, with my insert in 25 you will have 26 shots but should work perfect, and if not working perfect just contact me and I’ll take care, I’m not perfect and errors can happen but I’ll always be there to make it right.

I have been communicating with another member who just received a new Impact from SPAW today. Right off the bat he is having trouble with those cheap plastic mags and slugs. Paid well over two grand for the gun. I'm not sure why FX is not at least going back to the metal mags for their customers, or at least acknowledging the issue and letting us know they care and are working on a fix. Makes no sense as this has been going on for a good year now. Maybe it's wrong to shoot slugs out of these guns, but they sell slugs for them??? To be clear, I truly like my Impact a lot, but this is ridiculous to go on so long on such a pricey gun.
