Am I alone thinking that this sort of power in mass produced rifles is what's going to make gov't start paying 'unwelcome' attention to our little sport?

I don't think that gun is any more powerful than current Evanix offerings, and those are on the low end of the Big Bore spectrum.
Big Bores airguns have been out there for quite sometimes now, I doubt this one will get the Regulations coming, the "Sky is falling" on this subject also been out there for sometimes,....and nothing as happened.

Do you guys forget the we are allowed to own muzzleloaders, crossbows, flame throwers, and can blow up 50+ pounds of tannerite at a time without any regulations, other than an age restriction? In all countries that I know of, that have airguns regulations, they came after regulation and confiscation of firearms. Anti-gunners are far more worried about you being able to own a Barrett 50 cal or an AR15 with a bump fire stock then a 50 Cal air gun. If they manage to put heavy regulations on firearms, then I'd start worrying about you airguns.
