New Diana 56 Target Hunter

What a day, I’m stoked. Sitting in bed this morning having my cup of tea and getting my daily fix of AGN when I notice an email from Dustin Olenslager of Airgun Depot notifying me that I’d won third prize in the Springer Breaker Challenge.......wow. Dustin advised that unfortunately the competition was only for people in the US but I kind of knew that already. He graciously said that if it wasn’t for Australia’s strict import laws for weapons he would have shipped me the prize, wow again. I emailed him back and thanked him and his company for running such outstanding competitions and asked if he hasn’t already reallocated the prize could he give it to one of the participants who I thought deserved another springer.

The day gets better, my Benjamin Trail 177 has killed two Bushnell Trophy XLT’s 6*18*50 in the last couple of months. Bushnell has a lifetime warranty on this scope but I opted to swap it for a UTG 3*9*40. I have had this scope on my Walther LGV Challenger Ultra for the last 12 months and had no problems. I got another email that my scope was in the mail.

And better still today I ordered a Diana 56 Target Hunter in 22 cal. It won’t arrive in Australia until mid January so I’m chewing my nails in anticipation. I also ordered a sportsmatch dampa mount as well. Happy days. I know the rules if there’s no pictures it didn’t happen so when the Beast arrives I’ll rehash this post and send some pics.

Again what a day.

Chachoze will do.

John yes it is a beast, 5.1 kilos without the glass. My Walther LGV weighs 4.1 kilo with glass. The first time I shouldered the LGV I thought wow this is heavy but to be honest I found it to be more steady when slhooting unassisted. Now I don’t notice it at all, the only thing that changed is that my shoulders and arms got bigger 😂.

Thanks Lewis I’m really looking forward to getting my 56. To be on the safe side I have also ordered a Bullseye ZR Mount which will hopefully arrive at the same time as the 56. The dampa mount is more expensive the the ZR but the ZR has a stop pin. Unfortunately I don’t think I can order a mount from the US. Had the same problem with third prize in the Long Ranger comp for springers. Can’t wait.

The Dampa Mount should come with a arrestor pin....according to Sportsmatch website, but yeah its definitely more expensive.

To me the thing I dislike about the ZR is that I'm not sure if I would like my scope to have that much movement bouncing up and down while walking through the woods if I were to go hunting. As a benchrest mount I would say its tops.

"Chachoze"Congrats on winning third prize although unfortunate about not getting the rifle.
Let us know what you think of the Dampa mount, I am looking into a new HW90 or RX-2 and was thinking about the Dampa mount but I not sure that it offers any droop compensation. Mostly I'm just curious how it performs.
Chachoze I’ve had the Sportsmatch dampa mount on my Benjamin Trail for nearly 3 weeks now. I have a cheap Niko Crown Air King on it and it is still holding zero. This rifle has killed many scopes but so far so good. This mount doesn’t have the new stop pin in it but the 4 bigger screws on this mount have kept it from moving. Nearly 500 pellets and the rifle is grouping 5 shots within an half an inch at 25 metres. And no there is no droop compensation on the mount.

Congrats on the 56TH!

Once you get it set up let us know how you like the comb/cheek weld of TH stock.

I have a 48 with a Diana Z mount and its pretty high with no chance for a proper or comfortable cheek weld when looking thru the scope. I deal with it but seems like RWS 48/52/54 stocks were all designed for iron sights.

The 56 stock looks like it will be much better option (high comb) for scopes.

Regards,

DT
