New DAR .22

IMG_2411.1606179636.JPG

Ordered it Friday and UPS dropped it off Saturday...been plinking some until i get organized/time to shoot some targets and get detailed chrony data...

It came with 1500 psi so i shot at some walnut size pebbles at 20 yards hitting them at will.

Prelim chrony at 900 fps shooting JSB 15.9 gr...need to air it up tomorrow and run it on the chrony for full shot string and shoot some targets.

I'm only 120 miles south of Ontario, CA where DAR has set up shop.

NICE! They should call it the DAR-WIN...

Dynamic Air Rifles - What I Need...

DARWIN-Since this is like a theory of their Evolution of DAR's Natural Selection. Changes over time heritable and physical traits to better adapt to our shooting needs and environment to ensure survival of the fittest in its class. It has been modified from its original design for the better compared to the rest of its similar-like species in its class. This one appears to be quieter than the rest straight out of the box where an additional LDC may not be necessary. The wood stock and improved valve seal and robust easy to load magazine are very nice too. We made it shorter, quieter, as accurate (if not more accurate) and easier to hand pump (only requires up to 3000psi) than most others with a nicer and more robust magazine system. Did we say shorter and quieter and nicer wood stock compared to others in its price class? Survival of the fittest. Time will tell...

Our very own Dana (Crosman 999) is a featured star!

Cool Man! I love my DAR .25 Gen II.

Dime size groups at 35 yards with JSB 25.4 right out of the box. I'm not going to do a thing to this rifle other than other than some Uncle Mike's sling studs, so I can use a sling when I go hunting. Mounted a Athlon Talos 3-12x40mm Mil Dot scope with medium rings. Absolutely love the magazines! Only $20 a piece and superior in every way to the typical Marauder style mags. The side lever is is so smooth!!! Love it! Nice wood stock on a $300 rifle instead a junk recycled milk jug garbage stock! Thank You very much DAR! You got it right! Wish it had a attached Foster fitting instead of a probe, but you can't win them all. 40 ft lbs with great accuracy! This is my primary hunting rifle now!

Today I have been pumping the Dar .22 up and testing pellets, then more pumping to 3000 psi. My scubas are empty so I pulled my Discovery .22 pump out of moth balls and it is pumping good after all these years. At 78, I'm hacking it especially since I read somewhere today a guy 81 was pumping his rifle up. LOL

JSB 15.9 gr...900 FPS AVG

JSB 14.3 gr... 912' FPS AVG

Norma Golden Trophy FT no good as they are to loose in mag for my taste.. think they can cause a jam..

No snags as yet...just need a compressor before my arms drop off.

Went to adjust trigger but the adjusting screw is so tight the hex key is "torquing" so did not want to push it. Will get some proper wrenches Friday.

I'm not use to a quiet air rifle...Use to shooting my Discovery .22 and HPA 850's. I'll get some noise readings tomorrow...I have a good dosimeter.

Accuracy is good. I've been shooting using a scissor jack with butt to my shoulder. That plus my stiff trigger (3.8 lbs) is making one holers tough to get. lol.

Ordered a Center Point 4x12x44 Spectrum FFP scope on sale at Air Guns of Arizona this AM on sale $139. Can't believe PA wanted $199...crazy.

Not a big negative with me, but the coating on this rifle stock will be prone to chipping, nicks etc.

I plan on eventually sanding and re-coating with Formby's Tung Oil Finish.

I've done two other stocks (Disco, Sheridan) and they have held up good for 10 years.

Some manufacturers put Loctite on those trigger adjustment screws. So far I’ve been able to break them loose but really had to put some pressure on the Screw. That’s too bad that the stock will need refinishing. That reminds me of the lower end Crosman Guns. Those companies should stain the beech or whatever Wood they use then clearcoat it. But they use a coating that has the stain mixed in And when it chips then the wood is lighter underneath. But I’m glad you’re enjoying it.
