New Snowpeak Compressor?

This compressor was on display at the SPA booth during IWA 2018. It appears to be 3 stages, air cooled, oil lubricated, 310 bar pop off valve, water separator tower, and compression stages similar to a dive compressor. If it is sturdy, durable, and competitively priced it would be a nice addition to the marketplace. I'd like to know more about this intriguing looking compressor but haven't seen any information on their website. It is labeled Artemis, but several of SPA's products share that name. It would be great if a distributor such as AoA, Pyramyd Air, or Airgun Depot picked it up.

Artemus does seem to be snowpeak ( HUGE contractor) and SPA, and I'd be interested i hearing the rest even tho with thier many contracts differing QC is a part of the pricing structure.

The is on airgun fellow talking about being a new "SPA" dealer , not sure how that would work with some models already sold here but with different names instead of spa/snowpeak/... . Maybe he can get the low down ( and units?)

I did google this one and other than another picture or two I cant find a thing more than y'all posted even of the better over seas forums.

Who's got the low down??? We are so closer to good compressor at lower cost, one true dive compressor company that could figure out how the re-write the insurance they must carry for "Breathing" air and more so the total design, certainly could sell them for less than the better home airgun units and still turn the needed profit, I think.

Any further word on this compressor? It looks to me that if they could get this released in the $1300 to $1500 price range they'd put AV, AC, and Hastan out of the compressor business...

I agree. But the chances of it being that attractive a retail price are slim and none.

The sad thing is a great new compressor like this one is developed but one distributor typically gets exclusive marketing rights. Then they set their own retail price and start the high pressure car sales routine. Like selling features as add ons that were sent by the manufacturer already built into the compressor.

Customer: I really like your new model car, sir. I see it's $15,000. I want one!

Dealer: That's right, $15,000. Now would you like a set of tires on that car? How about a steering wheel? Lets see, with those included the price is $26,500. Cash, check, or charge?

Good evening-

Humdinger has it right. Some companies remove one filter from a compressor, add another (an "ALPHA" filter, perhaps) and then sell it as a better version at a higher price- which is such bull crap!

I like Snowpeak stuff. I even bought one of their power washers, which works great and cost almost nothing. I truly hope this compressor does come to market. It will bring the price of everything else intended for the air rifle/air pistol market down, including the so-called "ALPHA" which is overpriced, for what it is.

Kind regards,

Looks like it’s a IDE barvaria buddy as referenced in MiniMe’s link above. On their site it’s says made in Germany, Austria, Italy region or something like that. Price is around 1300€. Most German stuff is of pretty good quality hope this is too. I googled dealers in the USA and couldn’t find any. At that price I would be interested as they claim it’s the smallest 3 stage compressor made. Probably due to lack of fan?

My feeling is that this is not a German compressor but the same relabeled SPA compressor made in China that I mentioned when I started this thread. The other compressor shown is a Bauer Jr. II knock off made in China. I've seen it being sold in the U.S. as a Compwell LC110.

Thanks for the link. Now that I see the specifications for this compressor I realize that for the price it would sell for in the U.S. that the Daystate LC110 is a better compressor with more proven design and features at a similar price.

EXACTLY my thoughts, for just a little bit more get the name brand. The Chinese made version has to be AT LEAST half of the price of the name brand in order to gain any interest from me. It is a fact that the cost of Chinese items are CHEAP but people often mark them up way too much.

I appreciate the savings but if its too close in price to the better brand one then get the better one!

Example $40 Beeman P17(CHINA) vs $229.99 Beeman P3(GERMANY) and $240 HW40PCA (GERMANY) ORIGINAL. China version is unbelievably accurate and typically shoots faster than the German.

Don't know how in the heck Beeman managed to pull this one off and is still selling it under their brand label as the P17 for $40 but its A REALLY GOOD ONE.

I was blown away by the price difference between the $1299.99 AV compressor compared to the one that sure looks like it from Aliexpress at half the price but in this case its China vs China and hopefully they are not exactly the same item.

Seems no one can currently know whether the Artemis compressor is the original design with Bavarian version sourcing those parts and assembling in Europe OR is the Artemis version just more IP theft (a clone) with the Bavarian version being the original and better with German engineering and materials. Hard to know.

How much would it cost to get the Bavaria version sent to the US? Prohibitive cost most likely.

I began this post months ago. Snowpeak is a Chinese wholesaler and can put any retailer's name and cosmetic finish on their manufactured products. Mrodair's P12 and P15 pcps, and the Diana Outlaw and Renegade pcps are all Snowpeak products. I would venture to say that the "Buddy" compressor on the Bavaria website is 100% made by Snowpeak and is merely branded by this German retailer. I recognize Bavaria's Fun II compressor on this same website as being identical in apprearance to a Compwell AC L110 exported from China as a Bauer Jr II copy. If you add shipping and the currency conversion from Euros to dollars the Buddy doesn't compare favorably in cost vs. specifications to the Daystate LC110 made by Coltri. If you have a breakdown you have to send this compressor to Germany or China for repair. It remains impractical until it has a reputable U.S. distributor with competitive pricing and a U.S. service and parts facility.

I would bet you are right on the origins of that SPA/Bavaria compressor. I do plan to buy a better compressor in the near future (local fire house fills my 97cf tank now) and have previously considered the Air Venturi and then the Hatsan Lightning when it was released. Either would serve my needs more than adequately if no failure was experienced. But my belief is that the Daystate or Nuvair compressor (or Bauer if someone is considering such) would be much more likely to serve my needs much longer, less likely to have any issues, and have much greater value once I'm no longer shooting. Might not work for everyone but it's my view and plan.
