Airgun Nation;

Hello and Happy New Year to all!
Some of you may have seen by now either the press release or the various content on our Umarex AirSaber product launch. It's been tough keeping this one under wraps simply because some retailers already have them in stock so we've been excited to tell you about them! And yes, I know, some of you will ask about the Hammer, so I'll just tell you now it's still being "forged" so-to-speak. I've got nothing more on that for now.

The press release on the AirSaber is out there, so I won't bore you with posting the words here. I'll put some links below to various content being posted online and here's the link to read a bit more about it: https://www.umarexusa.com/umarex-airsaber

Thank you all for being supportive of the airgun industry and for being supportive of Umarex and Umarex USA. None of what we do would be possible without those of you who are positively passionate about airguns and airgun hunting.

Excellent price point on a great and looks to be accurate gun! I made my own a couple/few years back and it cost me near as much to do DIY. It is a bit more powerful but, as I made it from a pistol, only good for three high powered shots @ near 150fpe. Planned on getting a longer tube but have not got around to it. Thanks for the post this should get some interested and able to buy as the cost is so low in comparison to other units on the market.

Convertible 100fpe 9mm to 150fpe arrowgun.

I had an idea awhile back to help suppress an arrow barrel. If you are familiar with Wisker Biscuits for archery arrow rests imagine 2 or 3 spaced out like baffles. The fletching would pass through as designed and a lot of the sound would get captured.

I believe it would also help support the skinny/thin arrow barrel which might help accuracy as well.

I’m not aware of any State that allow air bows. Anyone? Probably be legal like crossbows are now most everywhere. They use to be for handicapped hunters only.

Have these shown accuracy as good or better than top line Ravin or Sub moa at 100 yards? I’m just curious. I have no desire to shoot any bow past 60 yards. Maybe if I could find 0.010” lefty pins for my site I’d try Olympic distance but lefty’s have it hard in everything.

Legal in Texas:

Air Guns and Arrow Guns Means and Methods

Definitions:

  • Arrow gun: a device that fires an arrow or bolt solely by the use of unignited compressed gas as the propellant.
  • Air gun: a device that fires a bullet solely by the use of unignited compressed gas as the propellant.
  • Pre-charged pneumatic: an air gun or arrow gun for which the propellant is supplied or introduced by means of a source that is physically separate from the air gun or arrow gun.

Alligator, game animals, furbearers, squirrels, and non-migratory game birds (except Eastern Turkey) may be hunted with air guns and arrow guns provided:

  • Alligators, big horn sheep, javelina, mule deer, white-tailed deer, and turkey may be taken only with pre-charged pneumatic arrow guns, or pre-charged pneumatic air guns.
    • Pre-charged pneumatic air guns must fire a projectile of at least 30 caliber in diameter and at least 150 grains in weight with a minimum muzzle velocity of 800 feet per second or any combination of bullet weight and muzzle velocity that produces muzzle energy of at least 215 foot pounds of energy.
  • Squirrels, pheasant, quail, and chachalaca may be hunted with air guns that fire a projectile of at least .177 caliber (4.5mm) in diameter producing a muzzle velocity of at least 600 feet per second.
  • Arrows or bolts used with an arrow gun must conform to the same standards for projectiles for archery.
  • Arrow guns may not be used to hunt deer or turkey during archery season.

You guys are funny. I can hardly get Hexx arrows out of my styrofoam homemade 3’x3’ target from 60 yards from 70# bow. And I’d like to keep my fletching on thank you as I see that monster doing many a pass through.

What spine would that need? 50? God. I know it’s using short radial weave bolts but remember when 200fps was “fast.” Lol.

Seriously though what States allow air bows?

PA made crossbows legal for everyone. You had to be disabled years ago. Maybe air bolts will show air guns are quite capable if hunters are ethically enclined with shot placement.
Heck an 06 doesn’t mean hydrostatic shock guaranteed kill. I was 10, allowed to shoot if Mentor handed me rifle for deer shot. My first time I shot a Doe, I blew her right front leg off at her knee. She kept limping/walking like she didn’t realize while others ran. I cried. My 10 year older brother raised his .30-30 and put her down. I was just young and shaking from 60 yards. I learned to use trees as rest, or sling. Never took a shot again unless I knew it was a heart/lung dead on. And Archery made me learn anatomy at a even deeper level to choosing just legal broadheads so I could shoot between ribs on a stand still.
That’s a big difference of anywhere behind front shoulder to sending anything between ribs.

I asked before and nobody knew. What’s that Air Saber’s accuracy like? I ask because I see too many bad shots. I find dead deer on my property EVERY season as 4 main trails come through and they bed here in grass I’ve let grow over. They come here to die.

So some crossbows (SUB MOA, Ravin, Helicoil no drag string) claim 3 shot sub moa groups at 100 yards are possible and they’ve filmed it. I’m mainly a target shooter in airguns & Archery but Archery is my choice for big game & airguns are my choice for varmints, small game, & pests. If the air bolt guns help a guy take a Deer cleanly then I’m for it. Is it over powered? Adjustability easy? I’ll watch the videos that probably don’t answer my questions but please if ya know share.

I’m not bragging but I’d feel confident with a clear shot from 70# compound w/ target sight at 60 yards. That’s far for most including myself. Give me my Tomahawk SS Diamond R/D 64” 55#@28” longbow and 20 yards is MY limit on sure shot of a deer. My Vintage Bear Grizzly 45#@28” recurve with sight pins? I’d feel okay to 40, if I had to but I’d prefer 30 yards or less.
