NEW AEON 10-50X60 ED SCOPE

just had to pull the trigger on this one - 50 mag scope - 60mm objective - 30 mm tube - WITH ED GLASS - if you don't know what ED / APO glass is , look it up -- usually only on way more expensive scopes -- for example , HAWKE has a recent 10-50x60 ED scope and it retails for $899 -- got this AEON for less than $300 - if it is as good as my AEON 10-40x56 , i'm sure i'll be happy with it -- have not seen any reviews / videos on this scope - it is that new - anyone out there had a peek at it ?

I have several aeon 10-40x56 with the trajectory / field target reticle , one target dot , and one 6-24x50 trajectory -- they are all very clear and sharp - they rival more expensive scopes in clarity - I sold all my sidewinders in favor of the aeons --- more power 10-40 vs 8-32 , smaller in physical size and a little lighter - do not need the illumination so that was a non issue -- just as clear as the sidewinder if not clearer - glass etch reticle is as good as they get -- YES , THEY FOCUS DOWN TO 10 METERS - I use one on my FWB300S in my home - I use on 40 mag in the house and it is very clear - very satisfied - shot multitudes of super small groups with it --- I am wondering if any of you guys have any info on the NEW 10-50X60 ???

For under $500 scopes with repeatable clicking and range finding Aeon's can't be beat. I have a 10-40x56 with target dot, and a 6-24x50 with field target reticule(first gen, they no longer offer this reticule in the 6-24). I can't wait to see how you like the new Aeon and certainly can't blame you for buying it over mine at that price.

Thanks for popping this onto my radar, @fenderguy . I have an AEON on my Texan and love it. Great scope. Like it more than the sidewinder(s) I've owned. Ordered an AEON 3-18x50 for my hunter bullpup earlier today. 10-50x is the range I've been looking at for my bench queen .30 cal, but I cant justify another $1k+ on optics for my application.

Where did you get yours? Not seeing the 10-50x60 on the AEON website.

These scopes sounded really interesting and great value for money, so I checked out the Aeon site and found the following.

WARRANTY UPDATE
AEON will no longer warranty scopes mounted on any Airguns using a spring type action.
AEON will also no longer warranty the focus knob when a focus wheel has been attached.

Springer is not surprising, but why focus knob restrictions? The latter is also true for MTC scopes (at least for the older Optisan MTC Mamba and Genesis that I have, not sure about newer models), but suggests that construction of Aeon is not as robust as higher end more expensive scopes?

So I called Pyramid Air this week. They said the shipment coming in on 11/21/2017 will be the first shipment of 10-50x60 Aeon's.
I am intrigued by his scope. I like my Aeon 10-40, it is not as clear as my Hawke 10-50, but it is sharp.
I have to wonder how much the HD glass will improve the image.
For the money I think a person cannot go wrong, but we shall see once they hit the market.

So I have pulled the plug on this and ordered one.

I called today to another place that haves them R and L airguns who are selling them cheaper yet at $288!
I talked to a salesman today who informed me that they have been selling them for 3 months and that they look cleaner than the 10-40 Aeon.
It will be mounted to my regulated Air Arms S510 Ultimate Sporter.
The only negative is they do not have a sun shade for it yet.

I will update once I have it.
It is going to be my wifes Christmas present to me. Yay!

Only 40 minutes of elevation is nothing special but usable with an airgun. The way I read the warranty as to the side wheel is that the SIDE FOCUS KNOB is not warranted with the use of a sidewheel. Sounds to me like it is just the cosmetics of the knob itself that is in question, not the side focus itself. How is the turret repeatability of the Aeon products? I had an early one and was not impressed... not nearly as good as a SWFA [my favorites] How is the glass clarity compared to really good glass like the Nightforce BR or the Leupold MK4's/ Sure there is a big price difference but I am just interested in knowing the quality of the glass, hang the price.

So an update,
A friend and I both bought the 10-50 Aeon.
Unfortunately, we both did not care for the scope.
It should have been a home run if it was an improvement over my 10-40 Aeon.
But alas it was not anywhere near as good as the 10-40.
Soft and low contrast were the name of the game.

Aeon were very good and the supplier we bought them from gave us both a full refund.

It is a shame as I was really hoping this would by a super bang for the buck scope.

For a scope that will probably never go past 100 yds. on an airgun you need more than 12X...........seriously? Now if you got some great looking babe 500 yds. down the road and she's not real careful with that hose when washing the car well then I too would opt for more power............but that's another story. Now where did I put that Meade telescope?

These 10-50x scopes might be great for benchrest shooting but if you want a scope to use at various ranges I wouldn't go with the aeon or Hawke. I have the Hawke 10-50 and it has such a change of POI when varying ranges it's almost unusable when zoomed to 50 power unless you sight it in at a specific range on that power. The downside of a second focal plane scope. For most all must hunting /general shooting I have it sighted in at 20x and it usually stays there all the time, which is a waste in my opinion. I'm making the change to all FFP scopes which take away the issue I'm having. I shooting from 50-125 yards and need to do so in a moments notice. So if you're a hunter think twice and don't make the same mistakes I did and drop a grand on a scope you can't take full advantage of.
