New addition to the family: Taipan Veteran Compact arrived!!!

Well, it was an exciting day, my Taipan Veteran compact / short arrived today and I have to say I am very happy with the gun. It is rock solid as people said, well balanced and I ordered the moderator adaptor and speed adjuster for the hammer spring. The Taipan is “pretty” quiet, but with the sumo on it is very quiet. I am impressed the single and magazines are made of metal, not plastic. I have ordered a Vector Veyron scope for it and hopefully it arrives this week. Also, I am very happy that the Taipan came with a target neither my FX Impact or Brocock Compatto did, so that did impress me. One of my CZ pistols also came with a target which is a nice touch. :)

Has the grip area on the beech stock always been checkered?

Nope. The checkering started sometime after 2018. I purchased a Standard around June 2018 and mine had smooth grips.

Thanks. I initially thought that the checkered pistol grip only came in the laminate stocks. The Veteran is still on my list that I have to have. Hopefully they'll come out with a mid cocking side lever by then but leave the trigger alone because I've heard a lot of good things about it.

Good morning and thanks. It is a great handling bullpup and I hope to take it out over the weekend, but scope dependent. The trigger on the Taipan is better than the Impact at initial impressions, but I haven’t adjusted the Impact’s trigger at all. Hands down though the Taipan and Impact have better stock triggers than the Brocock.

The checkering is nice and I am thinking of using linseed oil to bring out the wood grain of the beech stock. I will do some research to see how that would look and how to do it. The stock just has a stain and is not laminated so I should be able to use the linseed oil without damaging anything, but more on that later.

@blejda I will give the hades a try, I have some tins coming. @l.leon thanks I think I have the boxes ticked for what I need.

@pickzilla thanks and I think I will enjoy the rifle too. Can’t wait for the rig to be complete so I can give it an outing.

@dairyboy and @peskadot671 and @elh0102 thanks everyone and I will do a side by side comparison sheet of the three guns once I get to know the Taipan better.

Okay first of all grats, and I am not unjealous!!! and I look forward to your telling us how it does, especially at range with that short barrel.

And also, I see congrats on your choice of scope and I went back and checked ... yeah it's late and I'm tired but still? ... I see no talk of a scope, except your saying yours is on the way? So how did you get those groups?

Good morning, the scope is supposed to be on its way but I don’t know if it is I’ve asked the dealer. Because I wanted this week to side everything and so I have it ready for next week. And the target groups came with the gun to show it’s accurate I think it was 50 m five shots or maybe 10. So Typan airguns included the target with the rifle. Does that answer your questions?

Yes, if any rifle brand here has a following of loyalty it is Taipan and I admit the thing seems to be built like a tank. I am really impressed with it and considering the length of the barrel and the power it puts out, with the Sumo on it, it is quieter than my Impact with the same Sumo moderator at the end of the barrel.

Also, I had to have a Taipan or another Czech brand. Both my grandparents are Czech so I have to have a Czech gun in my collection or I would insult my heritage.
