Tuning Never ending mods on the gen1.5 Impact-X

Well while waiting for my M3 to get here, it's been seven weeks now, I decided to do a couple more mods to the early Impact X. As if I haven't done enough to it already.

Tore it apart and took out the hammer spring shim and weight I was using for a high power .25 slug tune and then, removed the modified Huma and returned the stock regulator to it's rightful place.

I also replaced the light valve return spring, I modified my setup to Gen2 standards, with the much heavier stock spring.

While I had it apart I noticed that the barrel indexing pin, on the rear block was really messed up. FX replaced it under warranty and sent me a new .22 barrel inlet as well. Cudos to FX as I was a couple months past warranty and they saved me $200.

Got the block in my grubby little hands and immediately took it to the drill press drilled and tapped it for a second barrel lock screw. I did a barrel tensioning mod a few months earlier and thought it could use another lock screw so it can share the extra load I am putting on it. Then I had to slot the cheek rest so I could get at the new lock screw.

Installed my new Monster Design power wheel while I was werqing on the gun as well. It gives me a little more hammer spring adjustment without resorting to getting the Allen wrench out. Contact mrshosted here on the forum for more info.

For some reason I had to pull all the rubber balls out of the rear block or the magazines fit really tight. Prior to the rear block change it never had that problem.

Anyway now I can set the gun up for some low power pesting hope I get to do some someday soon.

Hello, I did the same with my early Impact, it started in .25, I put a new Superior Liner in .177, the gun is amazing with JSB 10.34 and 13.43 (LV and HV), I put a low pressure Huma reg. Perfect for back yard plinking

Your gun looks fantastic! Love the ability to modify the Gen 1's

I also have a Gen 1. Added:

  • STX barrel, then a Superior Liner
  • Power Plenum
  • Dubber's Slug Kit (have it, not installed yet)
  • Rowe's dual transfer port (coming tomorrow)
  • new moderator (3d printed)

The PP added so much air efficiency, it gave the gun a new lease on life. So happy I can upgrade this thing over time. I think it's probably about maxed out, but I've sure had fun with it! So many guns are buy and can't modify at all. Impact is different. Nice touch!

I also have a mk2 .25 cal with 700mm liners in both .25 and .22. slug kit installed from SPAW. I just tried to put the .22 cal barrel in and had to choke the life out of my impact to get the .22 cal into reasonable speeds with 24gr pellets. Accuracy was not there at all.

I ended up around 77 bar regulator set point. I have the Monster power wheel as well. Had to fully close off my Valve adjuster. This thing will be easy to sling heavy 22 cal slugs.

I have Ernest Rowe transfer port on my .25 cal. put the .25 cal back on and reset my reg to 125 bar and now shooting 34.2 gr slugs at 940 with my valve opened to almost 3 lines showing.

I modified my valve return spring setup when I was running the .25 700 barrel. Put it on the outside of the plenum like the Gen2 guns. Had this light valve return spring in my gun that I took out of the FX pin probe kit for some extra power. When I replaced it with the stock much heavier spring I was able to get my velocities with the 14.3 pellets down just under 600fps. With my .22 500mm superior liner. It should be even better now that I have the new barrel inlet with the smaller hole in it for pellets. The reg is set at around 110bar. The barrel inlet port is stock.
