Neil Clague moderator for the RAW HM1000x .25 caliber

The other day I posted a picture of a little 6”x1.25” moderator Neil Clague made for my son’s Zbroia FC550. The gun was already pretty quiet but with this new little moderator, it’s super quiet. After I picked up that moderator from Neil, I gave him my RAW HM1000x with the offset moderator removed so he could take measurements, come up with a design and try out a few different ideas. I told him my son usually shoots this gun from the bench so length isn’t really a concern, we just wanted this loud gun quieted down once and for all.

Originally we talked about a long moderator with a diameter of 1.25” - 1.50”. When I picked up the moderator today, my boys and I fell in love with the look. It’s 1.50” in diameter and 3” longer than the original. We were excited to test it and were absolutely amazed at how quiet this moderator made our RAW sound after all this time dealing with the harsh report of the offset moderator. I can’t see how many baffles are included but there are at least 3 or 4. The moderator attaches with a small set screw on the bottom of the moderator and can hardly be seen. It’s a very clean design. The moderator also slips over the barrel at least 4-5 inches, maybe more(I’m guessing) but is very firmly held in place and is rock solid. Because all of Neil’s moderators are made to order, tolerances are tight and there is no need to order a caliber larger to prevent pellet clipping. I don’t know exactly to convey to you how quiet this gun is now but I give you my word, it’s very, very quiet for a .25, or for a .22 for that matter. Like I said, it’s a long moderator, but that’s the way we wanted it, long, slim and quiet! If you want a little short moderator, this is not the one for you, although Neil can make those too, as seen in the photo. If you want to quiet the report of your RAW, this is the one to have made. He can make it smaller, I think he said 1-3 inches smaller but if it’s made smaller, I have no idea what it will sound like although I would guess it will still be quiet. It can be made in silver or black, It looked great in raw silver, but my son preferred the black.

Neil now has all the measurements and plans to make these moderators without you having to send him your gun. You’ll have to discuss price and build times with Neil. I hope this helps those of you that I’ve talked to in the past about the report of the RAW and anyone else who wants to change out the offset moderator for a quieter design. Neil Clague is my neighbor and good friend, even so, my review of this moderator is absolutely honest and accurate. Neil makes some of the best hand made moderators out there for virtually any gun and has been making them for a long time. You won’t be disappointed.

Have a great evening. Stoti

Shown in the pictures are a new Clague 6”x1.25” moderator for a Zbroia .22, a 0dB 160mm for a .25 and the new RAW moderator for a .25.

Nice!!! Glad you got that sorted out man. I bet that thing quiets down the bark as well as it looks 😎

I definitely need to talk to Neil about making me a .30 cal moderator for my EVOL, just like the one he made for a WAR that @zx10wall had for a while. My EVOL is actually pretty quiet now with the shroud and JUST the DonnyFL thread adapter, although making it supremely quiet requires my Ronin with the extension.

Hopefully he can get me squared away!

Hi Stoti,

I have the HM1000X Chassis in .25 and spoken to Neil about the moderator. So I ordered one.

Trying to get the latest data to him. How can I get the Offset moderator sleeve off?

I have taken the little screw out, but it’s not moving and I don’t want to force it.

*** Neil responded to me seperately. Heat treatment will do the trick... :)

Many thanks,
