Neighbor kid claims his new Gamo Whisper Fusion Elite does 1050fps.

The weight of pellets isnt the only factor affecting velocity. How tight or loose they fit makes more difference unless they arent lead. Performance isnt necessarily just velocity, accuracy is most important as far as Im concerned.

True ! My Sig ASP20 with the Crosman 14.3 gr do 825 fps. They fit loose. Snugger fitting JSB pellets at 14.7 get me up to 840 fps. Same applies to both my RWS 34's. Loose pellets start moving down the barrel before peak pressure is achieved upon firing.

I cleaned his gun with my new Patchworm kit. Went until I ran out of cleaning patches.

I think it was pretty dirty

Much dirtier than my HW98 was when I cleaned it yesterday.

Fed it some of the bigger head H&N pellets, but we ran out of daylight and I kept getting errors from the chrony. Still, with the 5.53mm head pellets we got a couple readings in the 690s. It was too dark by the time we got to the 5.54mm.

We'll try some targets next time and see about it's accuracy.

Gamo gets a bad rap. I've never had a bad one. Before you think I'm anti-elitist know I've owned and still own very high dollar springers and gas pistons...some closing on $1k. The gun I grab when I'm hunting is the multi-shot Gamo Maxxim. Accurate, lightweight, acceptable trigger and that fast follow-up shot. As an added bonus I don't worry about scratching it's cheap plastic stock when pushing through brush.

In fact I just harvested a squirrel with it today, using an H&N Terminator. Seem to recall it launches them around 730 fps.

Neighbor kid came over yesterday w/ his hundred buck gamo. W/ the H&N Ø5.55mm his gun was flinging it at 740-750fps! Holy smoke! His scope was crap and wouldn't focus so I told him to swap the one off his other gun. He ran out of time doing that so we didn't get a chance to see how accurate the gamo was.

For reference, my megabuck HW98 that's tuned and all that nonsense could only achieve 620fps on the same pellet. It would go a little faster with a Ø5.54mm, but then the accuracy was crap.

The gamo is about 2 yards long, but otherwise, for a hundred bucks seems to be showing well. We'll find out how it does with accuracy next time.
