Need scope reccomendation.

It's been 15 years since I scoped a springer, back then Leupold 6.5-20 EFR was the way to go. Now that scope sits on my Rimfire silhouette rifle, a CZ 452 Grand Finalle. I need a scope and mount for a .22cal HW-85. Prefer a variable with at least 20X top magnification, and a lot of elevation range, that will withstand the dual recoil of a springer. Budget is around $500, was looking at Sightron S-tac 4-20 what others would be worthy contenders that I should consider?

The new Bushnell Forge scopes are great. The 4.5-27 power is more than $500 but a great scope and it's a terrific deal. Luckily for you, the scope manufacturers are really stepping up their game lately with more to come... Bushnell Forge, Nikon Black FX1000, Athlon Ares or Midas Tac, Vortex, SWFA, Leupold, etc... There's a lot of good glass out there for $500 or less. Let us know what you decide!

Man, I really love my Bushnell Forge scopes... I have 3-18 SSP and the 4.5-27 FFP .... great scopes and the price at Midway is insane! Cheaper than what I paid with my military discount.

25yds min focus, however, in my back yard @ 32 yards, they're both are clear as a bell. At 25, 50, 75 and 100 yards, a pure joy!!!

We found out the 2.5-15x model has a parallax of 10y minimum :)

I went a step up from the Athlon Argos that a lot of airgunners are mounting, to the Athlon Helos and like it. It is more than $500.00 retail, but can be gotten cheaper with some patient searching. Aside from having good specs and glass, it also carries a lifetime warranty which is nice if your gun knocks the guts loose. It focuses down to ten yards, which is a must for backyard shooting.

I love my Aztec Emerald, I shoot through it everyday. Has an awesome air gun friendly recticle, illumination. In good conditions any pest, black walnut piece of chalk, etc. out to 60 plus yards is toast. Been using about a year and am very happy with it still. Going forward for hunting and pests I will only purchase FFP scopes.
