need info on Huma bar setting for 22 marauder

I need some info guys, I'm making some upgrades to my gen II Marauder in 22cal including a JSAR lightweight air tube and super hammer, a 22 Huma regulator with the gauge hole, and I need guidance on what to set the regulator at to achieve 30 FPE with JSB 18.13gr pellets. I figured someone before me has already been down this trail and could save me some time pulling the regulator in and out of the air tube. Thanks in advance,Tracker.

I would make a couple of suggestions. I have Marauder in .25 caliber, not the .22 you have. I get 42 shots of 40 FPE with 25.39 grain pellets with the regulator set at 1800 PSI. My Marauder is highly modified, which allows me to use a low pressure. In all fairness, I could probably achieve even better results at 1700 PSI.

Air pressure has to overcome losses due to restrictive flow, the greater the restriction, the higher the pressure the regulator has to be set for. The lower the overall efficiency of the air rifle, the higher you must set the pressure to achieve a selected amount of FPE. The loss of efficiency results in a lower shot count, and in some cases, a greater shot to shot FPE variation. I would suggest you upgrade your valve, and increase your barrel transfer port size before you fuss with your pressure setting on your regulator. You can certainly set a pressure (say, about 2000 to 2100) and you would achieve your goals. But these two upgrades would allow you to lower your regulator pressure, because you will have less loss of flow within your air rifle.

I actually have the same question and was about to buy a Huma for my .25 Marauder. I was going to start at about 1450, because that's where the Field and Target seems to be set. One review of the Field and Target model shot till it fell off the reg and they said between 1400 and 1500 PSI. I believe they were using Crosman Premiers at 14.3 grains, so if you are shooting JSB's 18.3 grain, might want to start a tad higher as the settings I gave will only be about 22 FPE.

Good luck and let us know what you find out.
