Need help , closing my eyes

Lately I’ve noticed that my shooting has changed. When shooting my Benjamin I’m closing my eyes as I pull the trigger which alters my poa by half an inch or more. The trigger isn’t the best and I’m thinking that this may be part of the problem. I don’t seem do this with my Weihrauch’s. Also I’m having to take another breath as I’m balking on the shot. I have tried to keep my eyes open and follow the shot through but this only works now and then. Is there a way of beating this?

There was an old Jerry Lewis movie that comes to mind. In the movie, he signed up for a stop smoking program. Every time he went to light a cigarette, a big guy would pop up out of nowhere and smash Jerry in the mouth with his fist. Do you need that kind of help?

You should try to shoot with eyes closed. Line up the shot and close your eyes. Shoot then open your eyes.

This is a drill I do with the youth team. It will highlight if you are holding in natural point of aim or if you are forcing it with muscles power.

happy birthday....so why do you close your eyes? Check this out,I was eating and the person I was eating with started laughing, why are you laughing at me,she replied because you close your eyes when you take a bite...um,I watched my mom eat and she closed her eyes to.....a lot of people close their eyes when they have sex....I think most of it is because it helps us pretend....Eyes Closed Wide Open......I shoot with both eyes open....as you should to.....

Another thing, you ever pull the trigger, jerk the gun and find out it was on safety?....Close your eyes when shooting....I have seen people do it when firing a powerful powder burner.

It is a reflex, pull trigger close eyes...or close eyes pull trigger....good advise was given,I will add shoot the gun unloaded until you keep your eyes open,if nothing works go fishing, sorry they won't work either...

Happy Birthday to you and many more happy ones to you....

I thought you close your eyes during sex so you don't need to use the paper bag. Yo!

I’ll have to cross that one post off in my “havn’t seen this on an airgun forum yet list.”

Yep, you're flinching. ..... Dry firing. Relax and practice dry firing it. Surprised nobody mentioned it. I've seen a lot of "problem rifles and pistols" (most often powder burners) sorted out with some relaxing and dry firing.

That's why airguns are such great firearms trainers. They're not normally intimidating.

But yours is obviously causing you some anxiety. So relax and dry fire. No pressure, No concerns about accuracy. Just concentrate on aiming and snapping the trigger.

Are you indulging in caffeine before you shoot? Something else? Stress?

Good luck with it! You'll get it back

EDIT I see someone did sort of mention dry firing above. I think.

Well I tried your suggestion Yo of using a bubble level to improve my shooting. I’ll persevere with it but I’ll tell ya it’s taking some getting used to, especially in dense woodland.

Seriously though first off thankyou to those who wished me a happy birthday. I have tried a few of the suggestions that were given to me.First I tried closing my eyes and pulling the trigger, the middle left is my first attempt and second is the bottom left. Definitely an acquired skill. I practiced shooting the bad guys while watching NCIS at lunch time by aiming, pulling the trigger and imagining the follow through.

This afternoon the top left and middle left were 10 shot practices at 25 meters. Still had a couple of eye closures but improving.

Thanks guys

Gary
