Need advice on nitesite

Looking at this video, it looks like you just hook it up and you're good to go. I've been researching these things and for close range shooting ( which I'm looking for ) these should fit the bill with a lot less accessories compared to others I've looked at.

The Viper link is the one with the video.

Also been trying to find a deal on the Nite Site NS50. It cheaper but will do everything I need.

I'm in the same boat here and was looking at the viper. That said with the difference in range offered by the "wolf" model it may well be worth jumping up to the 300 yd capability.

I would like to hear from owners on this as I am always sceptical of advertised effective ranges of products much like we have seen over the years with laser rangefinders....

Thanks guys.

Unless its a whole lot cheaper...no way would I buy the viper with new viper rtec out now. Very useful upgrades on the new model. Check it out if you havent already.

No I haven't checked it out, only because I thought it was only a range finder, but I'll definitely take a look at it now.

UPDATE: I just checked the difference in price. $600 for the Viper and $973. for the RTEK, add the add tax and you're over $1000.

"Marksman3006"I checked too.....and ordering from europe came out to like 720. No way I would drop 600 for the standard viper now.
I agree, if it was $720 but it isn't, it's 720 pounds, which equals $917.67 PLUS whatever the shipping and insurance is. The cheapest I could find in Europe is 750 pounds which = $973. plus whatever the shipping and insurance is.

If I could find a Viper rtek for $720 I'd get it .

I have checked into these also and one other thing to consider is the battery life of either product. I was going to get the viper because 100 yards is more than adequate for my needs. However the wolf has a greater range and it would be nice to have that on occasion. Both have the same operational time period on "full" IR, between 3.5 to 4 hours full IR operating time. I personally would want something with a little longer operational time than that, if I'm going out at night is is for longer than a couple 3 to 4 hours. What I read from reading their literature is each unit has "An ergonomic ‘dimming’ knob on top of the unit allows accurate control of the illumination power to reduce flare for closer range targeting." The thought occurred to me that if I buy the wolf, and only occasionally turn it up to full power and the majority of the time keep it "dimmed" down I will get the same range of illumination as the viper but because I am not using full power all the time the batteries would last longer. It seemed fairly logical to me so I called just to be sure and was told that surely the batteries would last longer but they did not have and way to determine how much longer. Ie; if I ran the wolf at half power and had an illumination range of 150 yards, just under half the full power range, would the batteries last twice as long. One can only guess but I was told they would definitely last longer but no data exists to verify. To make a long story short. I will be buying the RTEK Wolf and testing and putting some data together to see how much of a difference the varied use makes. It just gives me more options if I use it that way. By the way the North American web site for NiteSite now promotes and advertises the RTEK. See link below. I just noticed that today. I will be calling my local dealer tomorrow to find out US pricing and availability.

I could be wrong here but look at the total....and then multiply by 1.12. Basically comes out to 725 unless Im not seeing something. I could be wrong tho.....never ordered anything from europe. Is the conversion in euros or pounds? Pounds would be higher and woukd explain my lack of knowledge surrounding this. Pounds would be multiplied by 1.27.......

Edit........my bad......the conversion comes out to like 825!!! I thought that symbol was euros......it is british pounds.

Exactly, however, that's still the best price I've seen on the RTEK.

I called the Nitesite office in Fort Worth today. I was told that they will be receiving their first shipment of Wolf RTEK Nitesites next week on the 11th of October. I was also told the price for the RTEK version of all models will be $400.00 more than the base version of the model. IE: Viper currently lists for $600.00 the RTEK version will list for $1100.00. They will have a rep at EBR over the weekend. I will have to corner him to try and obtain more information. Just thought I would share what I learned.

Hi Guys

As the add in the link says IDENTIFICATION RANGE 100 METRES. So from my personal experience you wont be shooting anything at range with any sort of decent zoom.
I'd seriously consider a home build if you want to bet serious..........? If you guys are looking at the UK a guy called somebloke on Facebook has some pretty simple units that will go a lot further for a lot less. He is on You tube. Personally I have had 4x nite-sites and now I build my own
Food for thought
Cheers
