Need Advice HW30 LDC Removal

Wow! The Tanto looks good on her. 👍 Congrats on the successful deconstruct! An Urban Pro Laminate arrived on my doorstep a few days ago. (Still on the first tin of pellets).

Deke,

I agree with Christian. My R7 love JSB .177 8.44gr too. You need to try them.

Christian,

I’d like to know what you think about your new LDC.

Performance wise it’s wash as far as I can tell. If I can I will do some comps on Saturday and report back. It’s an expensive thing to do since the Weihrauch LDC works just fine & I already owned it. But... the Tanto is shorter & looks pretty BA. My goal was to be able to remove it and use the gun in any configuration I choose, ldc, no ldc, etc. I hate that they bond it in that fashion.

Thanks for the heads up with the JSB 8.44gr, guys. I will certainly try them. I only have Air Arms Falcons 7.33gr, boxed CPL 7.9gr, and H&N FTT 8.64gr on hand at the moment. The Falcons are looking promising. Christian, was the Weihrauch LDC completely trashed in the removal? What type of bonding agent do you suspect is used? I had not realized the Urban Pro barrels came pre-threaded 1/2 x 20. I wrongly assumed the moderator was of the glued push on variety.

No, it didn’t get trashed at all. Just the couple of bite marks that I posted previously. Rather ironically though, the damn thing rolled off the table and crashed on the floor. Not too bad though still. It’s in 1 piece. Couple scratches is all.

Not sure of the glue involved. Frankly, I didn’t really know it was threaded or that it was 1/2x20, I just went on a whim. Paid off.

Believe it or not but I had a similar experience in trying to remove a water pump impeller from a 5/8" shaft. A co-worker used MMM....Marvel Mystery Oil and a gas torch to remove. He heated the impeller and started applying the MMM to the shaft. The oil would draw into the shaft within the impeller and start to boil off. He did this twice and the impeller came right off without any kind of a puller.
