Neat trick to mount BKL rings on a wider than average dovetail rail

I have a Brocock Compatto that I wanted to mount my scope using some BKL single strap rings. The problem was that the dovetail on the Compatto was .595 opposed to my other rifles which measure .465

Which is when I came across a simple solution:

First - remove the hex screws

Second - insert the hex screws into the offset hole on the opposite side. Slowly tighten the hex screw which will push apart the mounting bracket

Third - slip your scope/rings onto the dovetail rail and then remove the hex screws

Fourth - reinsert the hex screws into the original side and tighten

Voila! - BKL rings now fit on larger dovetail rails

I'd noticed the "push" holes on my BKL rings, but forgotten about them. Good tip, Michael.

I'd remember them (and though on first seeing them that their purpose was) if/when dismounting the rings - sometimes I have rings that bind up on the dovetail and don't want to loosen up, and nobody likes going at their prized airgun with a mallet; the push holes would work to help break loose stuck ring mounts as well as the purpose posted above.
