Mysterious image in Tac Vector Marksman?

A number of months ago, I had an issue with a Marksman scope that Tac Vector kindly replaced.
When I got the scope, I opened it and inspected it and it looked great! And then I put it back in the box and it sat there until yesterday when I gave it to a friend to him to mount on one of his rifles. To our dismay, there was a rather large black image in the erector tube. That image was not there when I received the scope a couple of months ago. The only method I have a photograph in this is with my phone. Does anybody have any idea or speculation what this might be? It almost looks like a felt marker.

My friend owns another Tac Vector scope, and it is awesome! And I know that several people on this forum think very highly of the brand. Are there anybody else out there that are having some quality control issues with their scopes?

Had a problem with mine too. The Taurus from Tac Vector. Had kept it in a box and it developed these small spots all over which are visible on high mag. Don’t know how it got in there for an unused scope. Totally irritating.

Did you contact the company re: warranty? I'm most likely going to contact their customer service department.

Exchange it under warranty but to be totally honest it really disturbs me how good warranty x and y and z brands are because it shows their failures and defective scopes abound. The troubles of the lack of QC and or inferior built scopes.

I'd rather never hear any brand needing to be sent exchanged under warranty at all like ultimate build proof of quality and reliability.
