Im sure many of you saw my post about my first time stretching beyond 50 yards.

well after enjoying it last time and getting a few hits on a spinner at 75 and 100 yards I though I would try it again. Last time my 75yard groups were awful! So I didn't post them.

This is time I had some homemade wind flags out and tried my best to read the wind a by more. Obviously never having used flags before it took some getting used to, figuring out how much windage to hold for etc...

with my FAC bobcat .22 again...

Here is is my last target card of the day... (The black shoot-n-c's are 1") 75yards

and here is my first card of the day (50 yards though) 2 odd low shots (one on the left and one on the right) and I don't think they were my fault

as you can see I didn't read the wind all that great! But it's a real world set of groups not cherry picked.

And a picture of my little shooting hut that I talked about before :)

Just measured them, all groups under 1.5" except the middle one which was 4 shots at 1.58"

top group - 0.57 - 4 shots

bottom group - 1.29 - 5 shots

right group - 1.25 - 5 shots

ledt group - 1.34 - 5 shots

The reason for the 4 shot groups was that I shot 2 magazines at the target - 24 shots but the last shot hit the bulldog clip that was holding the target up :(

Thanks Mike!

I had a 1" spinner out there too and managed 6/7 hits in a row and then the rifle fell off the regulator and I was quite a bit low for a couple of shots and then realised what was going on.

It it fills me with confidence when I see my 75 yard groups starting to close up, a bit like when I did the same at 50 yards. Once I've got the 75yards down to sub inch on average I will move to 100 and try for an average of MOA and see how I get on.

Having 32ftlb to play with has really opened up new fun in shooting for me. 12ftlb was getting a little bit monotonous and 55 yards was my max, with the tiniest bit of wind sending you all over the place.

Next stop... .25 cal maybe?? :D

I just want to add in here, that 50 yard target is probably average for my shooting in the wind (5-ish mph) however when there is no wind this gun can really stack them! 0.35" 5 shot groups are easy all day long.

I even taught my girlfriend to shoot with it. I started her at 55 yards on a 1.5" spinner and within a few mags she was consistent enough tomanage12/12 hits in a nice consistent 3mph wind. I just told her roughly what hold to give it and BAM! Every time!

Yup, not bad at all, keep practicing and you'll be at 1000 yards in nothing flat. I played at 100 yards years ago with a career 707II .25 but not too much. A friend showed up at a Field Target match with his RWS75 (that would be a 10m rig at about 6fpe for those that don't know). Insipered me to go home and open up the 100 (110 really) shooting lane for my 12fpe .177 figuring if he could shoot well at 55 yards and 6fpe 12fpe at 110 yards should be just as doable. Good clean fun! With a card board backer and a see-um target about 3 out of ten changed the target color but bounced off - thinking 110 might be the outer range of retained energy ?- and the other seven certainly didn't hurt the plywood behind the card board.
Wind is worth learning.

First Ben, your right about cherry picking. When I posted that target with my .25 cricket for 6 shots with JSB's 25.4 g I had other targets that I pulled a shot and ended up with 1/2" group at fifty. So I don't count them, for a number of reasons. Flyers, windage, and reg. pressure. We all do it. What I like to show is what the gun is capable of doing. And when I'm capable of doing it with the gun. I think you ought to give this a try. Take a target 6 to 8 inches out to 75 and put one high lighted marker on it shoot this all day with 1 minute between shots (if time allows) or for as long as you can. This teaches you to settle into your shot. A lot of fellows will take a shot and reload a take another shot an so on an so on. This practice is not good. Because you can't take your time to make sure your doing every thing right. Anyway, By the end of the day that 1" high lighted target should be gone. Now take another one and put it at 50 and I bet you drill it over and over. This is one of the ways I got so good at shooting in general. 34years later......

John in I think you expectation is a little off my friend ;) but I like were your heads at! Best guys, Steve

Thanks for the responses everyone.

I tried something similar a few weeks back Steve, a target card with 6 targets on. Take one shot at each target, then start again until I have done the full 72 shots (one mag at each)

it it didn't look at pretty as a regular group but it was interesting to show consistency IMO. Also my usual groups are 5 shot and these were obviously 12 shot.

i may give 10 shots groups a try as the new standard.

Edit- thanks jimmy, it's a great little hide away from the elements :) I can shoot in any weather now!
