My only rifle on par with my HW30

This is an older Diana model 35. Shoots like a dream. Shot 3 five shot groups at 25 yards. All under a penny. Light, accurate, 7.5 ft pounds. Shooting these 8.18 grains at 625 fps. Trigger is an excellent single stage that breaks light and crisp. If you ever get a chance to pick one of these up. Highly recommended! Pick this one up on GunBroker for 1:25 plus shipping.

I’m a big fan of the classic old Diana line. The model 35 is one of “those” rifles...zillions made, yet seldom seen for sale, which tells you what the owners think of them. It’s a true classic - great-quality barrel, possibly the finest open sight ever put on any rifle, smooth-shooting, comfortable size and weight, and a really nice trigger.

My favorite rifle in the old Diana lineup is the model 27, which is very close to the HW 30 in overall size and weight. The model 35 is, mechanically, about the same gun as the 27, but with a bigger-diameter receiver, a nicer stock, and a bit more power. The receiver length and piston stroke are the same on both.

The classic Diana ball-sear trigger on the 35 is a two-stage - not single-stage - design, though, when correctly adjusted. Take a look at this thread - description of adjusting the trigger and pictures in post #6.

Thanks for the link. That one would be scary to take apart. Luckily it’s shooting superbly.

After taking many years to work up the courage to do it the first time - I am NOT an expert mechanic! - I’ve dismantled and re-assembled several ball-sear model 27’s without disaster.

It was actually a bit of an anti-climax it was so easy. But you definitely need a spring compressor - more for control than brute force - and an understanding of how it works. The trigger is an ingenious and simple design, but unlike any other you will see.
