I finally bite the bullet and purchased a PARD 008 LRF. We had recently acquired a rat permission and having struggle to "see" them in the dark and effectively shooting them, I decided to get one. My buddy was using an ATN and he was having fun and success while I tried to use green and red lights method. The red flood lights were good and I was able to tag a few but with this PARD 008 LRF setup, it was incredible! I used it the other night (visit #5) and ended tagging 24 and collected 21 big rats in 4 hours.

I paired it with my first PCP - HW100 .22 and it was wonderful. MY HW100 has the shortest barrel that I purchased from the UK and since I got my Crown and Impact, it has been neglected and locked inside the cabinet for a long time. Finally it gets to come out and play. Play it did and it performed wonderfully smacking them rats repeatedly. My HW100 is shooting the AA1gr at 870fps; 27 ft.lb. This is over kill and I will probably tune it down to 20 ft.lb to conserve air for better shot count.

I am very pleased with this set up and I am very impressed with how small, light and compact this PARD is. It is expensive especially with the LRF model, but in my opinion, if it records good footages and simple to operate, then it is worth the money. Buy once, cry once.

I will need to use it more to find out the Pros and Cons, but for the time being the only negative was that it didn't come with a charger and I was having problem finding the right battery to buy as a spare. So if any of you know which 18650 battery is best for the PARD, please let me know.

I hope you guys will like the rats video that I will be posting next. Hopefully now I will have more video contents showing a mix bag of furry and feather pests to share with your guys.

Thanks for the support.

Nice sight! I have an ATN although it has many more features it is it's heavy as a brick and light is good when you have to carry the thing around for sure.

I use the NCR 18650b from Panasonic or the Orbtronic if I need a button top rather than the flat top of the Panasonic. Make sure of the type of battery you need as the flat top will not werq in some devices and the button top is slightly longer so may cause problems although I doubt many. Sony makes a good unit as well. I only use the 3400 or 3500mah units so as to get the most out of my electronics.

Be careful where you purchase them as there are many Chinese fakes around that will not perform.

Nitecore makes a decent charger for these and I have been using one for several years now with no problems.

@biohazardman. thanks for the battery info, that helps a lot. I will look them up. First time using that unit on Thursday night and the battery ran out after 4 hours. I guess I was testing and learning how to use the unit with the IR, LRF and recording had drained the power faster. But within that 4 hours, I was able to tag 24 and collected 21 big rats. Video to follow next.

@urbansniper. thanks, I can't wait to post my first rat video in the next couple of days. I like to add rats videos to my starlings/doves video as well. Furry and feather pests are in trouble.

@tibor. yeah the idea is great but we are jus happy to get this fantastic permission that we were waiting for a long time. So far the owner is very happy to see us tagging so many now after 5 visits. I didn't have the NV for the first 4 visit, but now they will be running for their lives, lol.

stay tuned, and thanks for watching.

You might think about the best you can buy in batteries as your PARD 008 device is quite spendy and you don't want it damaged. This battery charger seems to be a decent unit if you have a good 2A USB phone charger at home or in the car. These batteries have protection circuitry built in to protect your device. They have the most you can get in mAH so the longest run times also.

Check to be sure you don't have a little red light on at the side when you're done shooting. My battery used to drain fast until I found that light still on.

Grats on the PARD. Yeah spendy as heck but really fun to shoot with and a good match for a night-time rat shooter. I look forward to your PARD/rat-shoot videos!

The page I got my batteries from is gone, but I also got these:

Don't want those batteries touching, supposedly a fire hazard.

@Dingfelder. Thanks for the tip. Yes it was an expensive scope especially with the Laser Range Finder, but well worth it IMO. I am having a blast shooting them rats. I just snipe them out one by one without them knowing where I was. One of my good friends gave me a cylinder case that specifically use to store these batteries to keep them safe.

thanks for the advice. More rats video to follow.
