My new long range scope

So I got myself a new scope, The Falcon X504LR, which means 10-50x60 Long Range MOA reticle. I am making my FX Impact (.25 cal project gun) for long range shooting only 100-200-300 meters and just hoping my gun club will start working soon.

Quick specs on a scope, total elevation 50 MOA, 1/8 MOA per click, 10 revolution turrets, 80 MOA per full turn. Japan made and "Inspected in UK". 10 years warranty to the original purchaser.

The glass is fantastic clear. I had earlier the Chineese best glass they could make five years ago, that glass was clear maybe up to low 30ish power and then lost a contrast to 40. This Falcon is crisp clean glass full contrast all the way to a full 50 power. In my backyard I just lay it on my deck handrail and I could count the deckscrews down at the eight neigbours backyard. Btw the X50 scope is rated for 1000 meters, so I assume up to my longest range with the .25 Impackt shall be fine.

Special THANKS to

Odoyle for putting me on a right track "get a Japan made glass only"

also to

JoeWayneRhea I could not decide which Japan made glass Nikko or Falcon to get "Pick the Falcon and don't look back"

Oh man I was pm-ing these two folks so much, especially Odoyle, feels like I just shoot him like twenty pm's and he was right back inline in seconds.

Also to Krale folks for a very pleasant communications "I would recommend the Falcon X50 Long Range. This is a scope that will let you see the point of impact quite clearly on the distances that you speak of. It is a great scope considering the price."

I am very positive with their sales attitude, also great price.Total cost 730 Euros to my door shipped in five days (actually 3 days but why da hell would UPS work over weekend?).

Now some pictures to show the size of this beast :)

From top to bottom, Sig Romeo7; TenPoint 3-6; 3-9; 10-40x50; and the Falcon 10-50x60

Only mounted to my Impact with Infiniti adjustable rings, planning to mount high ...edited... to cover between let say 30 to 300 meters (I think I will zero it @50 maybe). I didn't tightened any screw yet, cannot go tuning, raining all day, and btw I need my wife's bathroom mirror ;)

Jeee this is a monster scope. Nose heavy, definitely for BR or with some more serious bipod/tripod.

The reticle is simple but shows just everything that I would need, I don't want anything else on the screen to distract.

And the thing I didn't expect, running out with room in the original FX gun case, my new pull-length adjustable adapter for the Gehman buttstock is in the making and I know already it won't fit, also where to put the bipod/tripod, rangefinder, things. Looks like I have to go shopping for a bigger box.

Nice scope! I’ve never used one but I have heard great things about them.

I too have a 1/8 moa scope. 80 clicks per revolution is 10 moa per revolution though. 5 full rotations will get you 50 moa. To 200 yards will be in the fourth full revolution if zeroed at 50yds. I almost didn’t post anything because I didn’t want to bum you out but it doesn’t change anything. It’s still an awesome scope. Here’s my turret, each different colored marker represents the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th revolution of the turret. It’s zeroed at 50yds.

Have a good one. Stoti

Dunno if you're a video guy. But I'd love to see some videos on the long-range shots you're planning on taking. ...

Photography is my big hobby over some 40- ish year and I was wondering about a same.

But, I am pretty tied up with my basement project lately wanna finish before the winter hits, and I didn't had a chance (or a clear mindset) to sit down with browsing for a scope adapters. I have no gopro thingy, only full scale DSLR with bunch of F2.8 lenses or a cellphone (S9+). I have seen occasionally some mounting options but if I jump in I wanna make it really nice setup...only a founding is a questionmark these days.

Stoti, you are right I did not tried yet the scope it was just my tinkering/calculation, a pre FX Impact .22 I could reach max to 100 with my 10-40x60 where I destroyed the inner tube with clicking (and which I am retiring now). Four revolutions for 50-200 is a lot more then my worst guess. Mind you sharing a source for turret tapes, I like the color divided revulution marks.

I make the turret tapes on Chairgun pro. I’ve made them both with the hold overs based on Chairgun calculations and I’ve also just printed them out with 80 hash marks per revolution, then went out and shot to get the drop at each yardage and put the little yardage decals on. If you need any help, send me a private message when you decide to make some of them and I can walk you through it. It isn’t hard at all but if you have someone help you with some of the details the first couple you make will go a lot faster. Have a good one and enjoy the scope.

BigHun, I was just thinking about Chairgun Pro that I recommended. It has been discontinued. Some people still have it on their computers, I’ve never had any problems using it since Hawke discontinued support for the platform but some people apparently do. With that being said, if you cannot get Chairgun Pro on your computer or get it to work, get a hold of me. With just a few basic measurements, I can print and send you a handful of scope tapes that are the right height and length, with 80 lines per revolution, so that all you’ll have to do is either laminate them or use packaging tape front and rear to stiffen and strengthen them. I use packaging tape, it’s quick, easy and works well! From there, once applied to your turret, all you’ll have to do is mark the yardages from the Zero at 50yds all the way out to 200-250yds. On my scope, I have marks out to 200yds. After you apply the packaging tape to the scope tape, the yardage decals easily peel off if you need to adjust them. Once you get all the yardages marked and validated, You can make a duplicate, so you have one and then put another layer of packaging tape over the yardage markers so they don’t come off. If you need help making them or want me to make some and send them to you, just let me know!

Have a great weekend. Stoti

I have my Impact set up to shoot the 33.95 JSB MKII’s at 920-925fps and my scope tapes are perfect. Let me know and depending on what speed you’re shooting, I can give you a pretty good idea of drops out to 200yds. My scope is also mounted high and is similar in every aspect. It will get you very close, then you’ll just have to validate when you have a time and place. Good luck.

Hey Stoti, we have the same setup same amo same specs, just to make sure we talk .25 cal. Stil not sure how mych is an effect the scope height and MOA angle.

Mind you sending me a sight tape in pdf I can print it out myself. At least my ArchersAdvantage and OnTarget for archery sight tapes when I "print" I can save as pdf. Also I was kind of laminating ( cover with a layer with a scotch tape and cut out with scissors) saves a little bit from elements. THX

I'm expert on nothing, but just speaking for my physiology ... I can't crank my neck down that far without tilting my head way over ... and that's just awkward and uncomfortable as heck. And being slanted makes the scope picture disorientingly slanted. I think I would sell or never use a gun I had to do that with. So I got a riser for my scope and feel so relieved to find my Cricket very comfortable to shoot now. I originally got it for my Avenger, because my hand and body were getting twisted up in weird ways trying to get a good fit ... and because my scope tilted too low to zero properly even with two supplied shims. I think that's why the Taipan, I think it is(?) comes with its scope rail already tilted down.

Anyway, I'm a long-armed (and apparently long necked?) guy who needs to be able to use the gun, even if some principles of scope usage are compromised. So high scope it is.

With compound bows you set the peep height in way you raise the bow to your face (or nose touch a string) with closed eyes and the eyebox must fit without moving your head/neck.

Same with air rifles, you swallow a broom stick and raise the rifle, you don't bent your neck or tilt your head, you shall bring the scope in front of your eye and that is it.

This is not a simple setup, you adjust your pull length, butstock, cheekrest, scope height and so on, more tuning then a fps ES ;)
