My Impact locked up

Was at the range Monday and my Impact locked up when I cocked it the lever would not go forward. I couldn't remove the magazine or remove the pellet from the chamber. I removed the bottle and barrel so there would be no chance of a miss fire.

Went home and took the gun apart and found the problem. On the bottom of the cocking block there is a steel pin pressed into the block this is where the cocking arm pivots on. Well the pin came out and dropped down and locked up against the cutout in the receiver. I didn't want to send it back to FX so I repaired it myself. I drilled and taped for a set screw in the cocking block for a grub screw. I notched the pin for a flat spot so the grub screw would hold the pin in place. I figured if this happened on this gun it could also happen on my other Impact. Don't want to have a lockup at a match.

Both of the Impacts were bought in late Dec 2017.Has anyone else had this problem ? You can check your gun and see if the pin is dragging on receiver by pulling the charging handle back just a little and if it is dragging you will see it.

People whose guns work like they should seldom post, like me. My Impact was in the second shipment AoA got. Everyone wanted black, so did I. They offered me a silver one and I took IT. I also have a Bobcat, a tallon ss, and 3 Diana's. No problems. People don't bother to post about something that does what it should. I never have. But one problem and I speak up feeling sorta cheated. I have neglected to post what worked as advertised. I don't believe the majority of manufacturers be it airguns, cars, power tools intend to "cheat" us (well I have reservations about one country). With the internet they know that customers can do their product in. Other then that one country (I had personal experiences with) Warrantees have been honored. I do my research, seldom buy new models, but I have faith in FX , Airforce arms, Diana, and the shoe box compressor. And I want Sig Sauer's Aps 20, gas piston break barrel.

100% Agree with GBGUNNER, be careful how much weight you put on the things you see on the internet.
Most people will make time to post things they are unhappy with. But few will bother to post positives just for the sake of posting.

I like the innovations at FX But I'm not impressed with their Customer service.
I'm hoping they don't have the arrogance to believe that the product can stand by itself, and overlook the value of customer loyalty. Not saying that FX will ever not be successful?!
But they are not taking advantage of their full potential if they do not hold customer service as highly as they do innovation.

As I said I have 2 Impacts and 1 Crown bought them in the later part of Dec 2017. The crown is a great gun it shoots as good as my Target Powder burners at 100 yards and it is beautiful I love it. One of my Impacts #2 ( I numbered them ) shoots great with no problems in fact I just put on the 700mm barrel I just got from AOA. Shoots almost one hole 10 shot groups at 50 will take to 100 yards on Monday. Impact #2 now that is a problem gun, all kind of problems from bad barrel to latest problem with pin.

I love the FX line and I'm very happy with the people at FX they have gone way beyond what you would expect from a company. I can't say enough good things about them.

Yes I should have sent back the Impact to FX and asked for a replacement but I'm a 45 year in the trade gunsmith and just can't give up on a challenge. I would rather fix it myself and learn about the rifle. The Rifle is man made and sometimes things happen nothing is 100% in this world, Hell 2 space shuttles blew up. But we kept going forward and improved the product.

The Impact takes some time to tune it to shoot the way you want but when you find the sweet spot you will be a happy camper. In the process of tuning you will learn so much about Air rifles and pellet dynamics that your friends will call you Professor. This is a great gun it just takes time to get it the way you want it to be.

As to posting about my problems with my Air Rifles it is not to complain but to inform and help others on this Forum. I have received a lot of information here and I hope others have too. This is a great place to meet and interact with other Air gun people . If the members think I shouldn't post about problems let me know, I don't want to wear any one down. Anyway Great Forum and keep it coming I learn a lot from you guys and gals.
