My FX Impact (Kinda) Compact 0.25...

A few weeks ago, I converted my 480cc bottle / 600mm barrel FX Impact to a 300cc / 500mm Compact. Prior to getting one, I was never crazy about the way the 300cc bottle looked in photos but was pleasantly surprised to find that it looked better in person. The 500mm STX barrel with Superior liner has proven to be a very accurate shooter as well so I had it paired with a DonnyFL Sumo for the last couple of weeks (it was a little too stubby and loud with the Tatsu). Overall length with the Sumo was about 31". Loved the shorter length and lighter weight of this setup but was only getting about 2x 0.25 caliber high capacity mags (i.e. 52'ish shots) between 250bar fills on the 300cc bottle.

So enter the 580cc bottle . . . which required a move to a DonnyFL Koi for bottle clearance. Overall length now is just 0.5" longer than before at 31.5". It's a little heavier and I haven't had the chance to shoot it yet to see how the report compares to the Sumo but the shot count should definitely be way better! I kind of like the looks of this setup and will probably stick with it and use the 300cc bottle with my Leshiy 2.0 whenever it decides to show up! Here are the two setups side-by-side - which do you guys like better?

[Edit: just shot a couple of quick groups with the KOI and, as expected, it's a little bit louder than the Sumo but definitely tolerable. The neoprene bottle cover had to go because wedging it in between the bottle and barrel/LDC pushed the POI up like 5" and opened up the groups. Also just added pics with the shorter Huggett Belita LDC attached.]

Very nice!!! That’s what I call have the cake and eat it too.

I’m tempted with that route too but will keep the standard 480 bottle. Need get a Koi or huggett sniper to fit also.

I have a Huggett Belita LDC that is a 1.5" shorter than the KOI and would sit just about flush with the end of the 580cc bottle. While a 30" overall length would be nice, it'll likely be too loud for my liking. I'll give it a try tomorrow to check it out.

Great job, that rig looks super cool. You’ve got plenty of power and will have a super high shot count! Freakin awesome! I’d love to see more pictures of the Impact with the Huggett just for kicks. I love the look of moderators that are flush with the bottle of tube. Great looking Impact. The adjustability and plethora of options are a huge part of why I love this gun...the accuracy and power too! Great looking, I love it!

@Stoti, ask and you shall receive! This is the coolest looking configuration at just 29.5" but also the loudest and probably not practical in my neighborhood setting...

The Huggett combo wins on the 💓 factor.

As you have all the parts, did you ever try a 600mm 580cc Tatsu combo, if so did the Tatsu fit without an extension?.

thanks for showing, really nice setup.

Unfortunately, I sold the 600mm barrel as I will likely be sticking with the 500mm setup for awhile. I do have old pics of it installed with the 480cc bottle and could take measurements after the fact to see if the Tatsu would fit.

I’ve done very similar with my .25 cal, My Huggett snipe screwed straight to the end of the 500mm barrel and a dummy shroud made up for cosmetics behind it, I think the mod you have on your rifle is a Belita? The snipe is longer as in my pics and probably around the same length as the Koi

Yes, you are most likely correct - I typically use DonnyFL mods and am not nearly as familiar with the Huggetts. Thanks for the correction! I think your setup is even better b/c it shortens the overall length by screwing the mod directly onto the barrel; the factory shroud is pretty useless anyways. Where did you get the dummy shroud from - or did you make it yourself?

I turned my regular Impact into compact version (new bottle and some work on mini lathe to shorten the shroud) and I must say I like it very much.

I am waiting for MTC Atom scope to make it even lighter.

Few moderators tested and they perform accordingly to their size, DonnyFL Tatsu shortest but loudest, Huggett Astille in the middle and Huggett Magna quietest.

Tatsu looks best but Magna makes it really quiet and only few vertical clicks making difference in POI will make them both in use.

Very nice! With the Tatsu and that small scope, yours must be very light!

Lo💓ing these "compact" pics, thanks guys.

I measured the 500mm vs. 600mm barrel you asked about earlier . . . the extra 100mm equates to about 3.94" whereas the Huggett Belita shown in the photos above measures just over 4.5" and sits almost flush with the end of the 580cc bottle. This means that the tip of the 580cc bottle would extend about 0.5" beyond the end of a 600mm barrel; however, the rounded outer edge would provide a little bit of clearance so you MIGHT be able to squeeze a Sumo onto the barrel but a wider mod like the Ronin would probably not fit.

@madmunki, if you're going for the 480cc bottle for a lighter setup, this is what my Impact looks like right now:

It's super light and very maneuverable but very hard to shoot accurately! J/K all the missing pieces are off being cerakoted so I won't be able to shoot the Impact for another couple of weeks.

I see that your Impact came with the new, redesigned butt pad - looks nice!
