OK, so I’ve been hearing about the stress of the blank card. And I have no doubt sitting down at a match is much much much different than what I did today. But I had to shoot my first card, and it was gorgeous, conditions were unbelievable, and the rifle was piling them up like it had no other business at 100 yards.
I did a post earlier on the rifle, I’m not going to get into it other than to say it’s a wolverine HPR in 22 Cal. It did not like the 25 redesigns, at least not enough to make me happy.
So I tried some old silver tin 18g JSBs. I shot them all weekend, and earlier today. 1010 FPS...makes no sense
Then the lightbulb went off. Conditions are perfect, I have those ridiculously expensive printouts that I had made at Kinko’s. I had my new rifle shooting unbelievably well. I spent all weekend setting it up.
so I shot my first card. I have to tell you I was pretty wound up. Even with no one but myself. Because I was going to post it. This is interesting. I was 2/3 of the way through the card, and realized I did not have a single bull’s-eye. I was having fun, and just starting to relax. I concentrated on The bull’s-eye for the last 10 shots. I went seven for 10. The power of the mind is an incredible thing.
I know that this result is ridiculous and the conditions were ridiculous and I’m going to savor every minute of it.
