My EDGun R5 .30 cal Slugger in Action

I finally got around to testing out FCPX with the HEVC recordings from my SideShot + H7 Backbone. I was impressed that the 12mm lens was able to pick up projectiles in flight in poor lighting conditions. Here's a video that I shot just before the the New Year with my Matador (Long) while I was testing out the newer .30 cal NSAs. The fog that day was epic, I couldn't see my POA until the fog broke briefly, where I scrambled to grab my camera to test out recording 😆

I had intentionally left a MIL or so on the elevation dial for preventing reticle obstruction (the Tremor 3 is a little thicker than others), but it seemed to render ok in 1080p nonetheless 👍

Nice group. Good shooting. Did you measure that group? Looks like those first 5 were inside an inch...

Thanks man. I didn't measure it, but I'm positive that those couple of flyers (that weren't attributed to me) were due to problems that I started having with my trigger mechanism and sear engagement. Hard to explain without photos, but out of the blue - my second stage adjustment screw had come loose during my hunting trip the week prior. I thought I had it all fixed, but I noticed that every 5th or 6th shot was real mushy, so like you can kind of hear in shot #8 in that video - the sear was "riding" the hammer longer than usual, causing just enough of a problem to me reduce the hammer force - turning respectable groups into 💩

I still need to tweak that trigger to get it back exactly where it was before, maybe even using epoxy instead of Loctite to keep it there forever 😂

Helluva shooting

you have a certified head knocker! I did notice a nice twang from shot to shot as well. Awesome tune and slug combination shoot safe Geoff

Yeah, there was definitely some twang there! I do like how recording with 240 frames per second picks up things that I might not hear otherwise. There's always been some ping with this Matador that overrides hammer / spring noises, but it's kind of cool being able to use slow motion audio to hear little tuning problems like that.

Even so, untuned - this thing is still backyard friendly on the rapport side and gets a considerable amount of shots per fill. The downside, the energy is anything but backyard friendly (especially anything above 60 grains, which sound like a 9mm parabellum on impact 😬

Nice shooting, I enjoyed watching them slugs fly in slow mo like a laser guided missile.

Haha, thanks Sonny! There is something mesmerizing about watching them in flight 😎

Nice shooting mtnGhost !

I love it when I can see the pellets flying . That's some typical Pacific Northwest Weather always when you don't want it but you have to try or your SOL

Thanks man! Typical PNW weather indeed. Impossible to forecast, especially at any kind if elevation 😢
