My Baby Uragan was delivered today.

Knife - that's very impressive.

I've got a problem I'd like your input on as I've noticed an issue since installing the Huma reg. I can't be sure how off the reg is, but it seems like it's way off from the scale on the side - like 30- 40 bar off. I've gotten it set at what I believe is 70 bar, but I can't be sure. Thing is the speed has been all over the place. I think we're past regulator creep at this point as I've got the H&N 18 set for 700 fps - or thought I did until I refilled the gun. At full fill it's shooting 690ish and by the time the gauge is reading around 120 the speed is up to 730-740 fps.

I'm going to put the stock reg back in and see if the fluctuations go away.

Any input would be appreciated as my .30 is super stable in terms of fps string from a full tank fill down to 160 bar.

Determining reg set pressure -

Add some extra hammer spring and fill a bit above what you think is the set point. (You can go higher, just going to use more pellets)

Close your tank/compressor valve but leave the fill assembly attached. This way your fill gauge will show the gun tank pressure. Shoot a string and when the velocity suddenly drops you are at the set pressure.

Thanks for the tip. I actually have one of those big regulator assemblies attached to my tank. So I can fill the gun to any set pressure. I used this to determine when the reg was set at 70 bar - which if the tape kept going would've been pointing closer to 30-40 on the tape. It would appear at the set point of ~100 bar on the tape the gun was falling off reg around 140-150 bar. So definitely something up.

As mentioned, the Uragan reg doesn't seal up in the Huma reg tester so I can't check it on my own for accuracy.

On another note - with the stock reg back in place and the Compact setup for the H&N 18 @ 700 fps it has remained very consistent over night and into this morning across a various range of tank pressures. Groups have shrunk to the one hole shooter @ 13 yards I would expect of this level of airgun.

I was getting very frustrated over the weekend chasing around a tune so I'm happy to know it was a replaceable part and not a general gun issue.

Quick update - stock reg is working like a charm. Been shooting the H&N 18 @ 700 fps very consistently. It's nice this airgun will also put out 30+ fpe if I have a need/want to crank it up.

I've been trying out the Huma Mod30 5/0 and very happy with the way it quiets things down. Removed two middle sections and still very reasonable volume levels. That keeps me happy as I can keep the overall length very short.

My Arca pic rail adapter was too long to fit so I added a small pic riser and then the Arca. That works out really well as it's a very stable tripod mount and for offhand shooting it turns out to be an excellent front hand grip.

Uragan Compact 2 - 1.1627500462.jpeg

Right now my only problem is me waiting so long to pick one of these up.

That compact looks the same size as the standard! If you moved it over a little.I'm trying to decide on the uragan compact or the Kalibr tactical compact or the prophet compact!!!! Too many choices!!!!!!!!!!!!

Buy them, try them, sell the ones you favor least. You only go around once so enjoy everything you can.

Update about 1 month later.

Still really loving this little airgun.

I was having one thing which was bothering me. The sear break was so snappy that it would tend to pull the shot 0.1 to 0.2 Mil unless I really held it hard. I took some 3M polishing clothes and polished the sear components up a bit. This made a world of difference on the trigger break. It's so smooth now and the accuracy shows it. Didn't have to remove any of the trigger parts either as there's a hole which gives direct access to the two parts to polish.

This airgun is a fan of the H&N 18gr, NSA 17.5 .216 and Crosman Premiere domed among others in the JSB family.

@ctshooter what size of groups are you getting with the nsa slugs at 50/100 yards? If you have gone out 100 yards.

I haven't been able to stretch the gun past 50. I only tried out the slugs a bit so can't really speak to their performance in term of groups - that would have taken more time than I was willing to spend considering I bought it a a pellet shooter.

The family has also grown with the acquisition of a .177 Compact. I've been checking Talon Tunes regularly and Tony never seems to have any .177s in stock, so when I saw one I jumped. Only had the .177 for a full day so still figuring out the new caliber, but I'll say .177 Compact will easily sling 18-22fpe. I have it setup for 18fpe with the JSB 10gr and will try to stretch it out to 50 yards in the next few days.

@ctshooter nice additions to the family there. The huma moderator is sectional right?

Well, for a pellet shooters you have a nice line up. It is cool to hear the 177 can crank out over 18 fpe.

I did see one video where they did stretch out the Uragan Compact 22 out to a 100 m in wind. On what I would say was a 6 inch target they hit 5 for 5 with pellets.
