My $.35 Worth (shooting in the wind)

I’m enjoying my new Wildcat MK1 .177 caliber air rifle. I like stretching the ranges out on all of my guns (seems to be the current standard for shooting) and I took a few minutes to set up at 50 yards in my yard (2 acres).

I made my adjustments to zero the scope at that range and fortunately there was a lull in the wind to give me a benchmark of what the rifle/shooter is capable of. It was my first attempt at grouping them this session. As you can see, the wind picked up. I continued to hold on the dot for my POA and watched what the wind was doing to the pellets POI. I started to see what I needed to do to compensate for the wind and the last 3 groups were shot in that condition while holding off for it.

My $.35 worth is this...

you NEED to shoot in the wind to start to learn to compensate for it. Also, .177 caliber gets blown around pretty good by even the least amount. I’m far from an expert, just sharing my experience to encourage each of you to get out and shoot for a challenge.

Thanks for looking!
