MTC Viper Pro? Opinions???

I have an MTC Viper Pro 5-30x50 scope. It has served me well with no issues on my FX ImpactX mounted with FX No Limits 30mm rings. However, on my long-range sniper rifles, I wouldn't even consider MTC. NightForce would be entry level. NF scopes are much better than MTC, of course, but Not as good as the German and Austrian scopes that cost more than NightForce. You, definitely, get what you pay for when it comes to most scopes. I feel that the latest MTC offerings are good enough for my FX ImpactX and would not put anything more expensive on it or any other airgun. I am sure others will disagree.

I agree with the last sentence. The rest not so much.

I went thru 3 of these, all with the same sloppy parallax problem. Personally I would never buy another MTC product.

Having said that, my friend just picked up a used Viper Pro Tactical and it seems fine. Perhaps his is a newer version?

Still, for the price they ask for the Viper Pro models it seems to me that it should be a much better product rather than just a good idea

The old ones were made for a company in the UK. They were iffy. the new one are made by Optisan and are fine scopes.Much higher quality than most Hawkes. The new Hawke Frontier scopes seem to be much better than their typical over price options.

The new Optisan offerings should not confused with the old UK Scopes. . Optisan are serious about bringing quality optics to the AG community.

Don't confuse the one company with the other. ;<)

Knife, I just bought the mtc viper pro 5-30x50 and I'm putting it through it's paces? It seems more clear than the hawk sidewinder sf30 of the same magnification. Tracks well and the parallax seems good . I can see how a field Target shooter would not want this scope.

Forgive me, but im confused. Does optisan make MTC scopes (or the other way around or not at all)? I should not have cut out of reading comprehension class in high school.

I have two MTC Viper Pro 5-30x50 scopes. One of them is has been a terrific scope that never gives me problems. The other one has been replaced 3 times. The newest replacement seems to be matched with much better tolerances. Turrets are clean, precise, and firm, not mushy. It does sit new in the box because I purchased another scope while I was waiting on the return and I like it so much that I decided on selling MTC (even though it seems like one of the good ones). No sense in losing time by remounting/sighting in instead of hunting.

Funny, I'm selling mine and was going to try to spice up my add by linking to a review, and.. yeh there aren't any. This topic here came up as top result on google.

So I have one, it's actually quite nice. Seems to track fine and is consistent. You dial to where you need the pellet to go in under a second, no maths involved. THe parralax is fine too, I can range just fine with it. Maybe I got a newer/revised design?

The 1/4MOA and the mildot reticle ombination is dumb but since I dial the ranges on the turret, it doesn't really matter. I have two tunes now on my impact which means I can drop the cylinder with the correct range/setting for each tune.
I also didn't create the printed tape, I just slapped some masking tape onto the cilinder and used different colored pens to match certain ranges. No ballistic calculator either, just setting out targets and zeroing onto them.
That's why the MOA turrets and mildot recticle is just,... Meh.

I'm looking to get a Nexus from Element Optics, true .1 mrad turrets with a mildot reticle.
I possibly might regret that later .. but hey, with the whole corona thing I've got tons of time and I want a new toy, dang it :)
