MTC Viper Pro? Opinions???

Why does it seem there is limited information on this scope? I would think with what it can do, it would be the "Scope to rule over all others"??
Especially in the air gunner community?

Yet it seems odd to me that the information/reviews on this scope is so rare?
I mean I've seen Ted's video of talking about them but no real updates as to how it's holding up for him. I have only seems Matt Dubber's review of the older model.

I've heard issue of the parallax adjuster. but nothing much else? Good or bad??
But I would think that this would be a hotter topic??
I ordered one. But because of the lack of feedback I'm second guessing my choice?

Some units must be better than others... I had one of the early/first batch I saw available. My experience wasn't great, especially for the price. Parallax adjustment was my biggest issue. Not repeatable at all. Anything past that is a distant memory as I was quickly turned off. Retailer took it back and admitted that they had experienced the same.

That said, I have seen some very positive references but I think they were buried in FT posts as opposed to 'scope reviews'
Very different scope from the 'old' 12x Viper.

I can only hope they fixed the bugs. Maybe you can talk to your retailer and see if they have any current experiences.

The one I looked through had a horrible dim cloudy glass at upper magnification. I even thought that in Ted's videos the scopecam footage through them was pretty cloudy and grim on the higher mags to be honest.

The turrets are a cool idea but with the way people are tuning and changing up all their settings, pellets and calibers, I wonder if it isn't going to end up being a headache? I suppose if you're the sort who just sets up and shoots your gun on one setting with one pellet all the time it'd be nice.

I also wonder how durable the adjustment mechanism will be in the long run - you don't get many scope in this price range that are marketed as dialers and for good reason - QC needs to be pretty tight to ensure consistent adjustments throughout the range and for all the years a scope will be used. Think on this - would you ever consider buying a used one?

Richard Utting singled out the viper in his 400gbp dialing scope round up as an example features at the expense of quality and glass - not exactly high praise.

I had Viper pro 5-30, with regular turrets (tactical). Returned it next morning. Very cloudy glass at higher magnification. Reticle is very nice (SCB2), as a matter of fact I have viper connect with same reticle on my Wild Cat and I truly enjoy it.
Since I have Optisan 6-24x50 FFP and I liked the glass and turrets very much, I decide to buy 6-24x5 SFP instead of Viper tactical and I did not regret it. Glass very clear through the range, even better then FFP. Few weeks ago I found this video compering just those 2 scopes. I hope it helps

Just as an option to the tape on the viper pro have you seen Michael’s SWFA with the yardage on the turret. There is also a company that make larger turrets for a variety of scopes so you can mark them with yardage. (can’t remember the name)
Its not quite like the geared turret on the viper but you can usually get from a 50y zero to 100y+ on one rotation of the turret.
This with a zero stop is what I’m keen to try with my SWFA scopes.

Why does it seem there is limited information on this scope?
Good question. There could be many reasons for that.
1. Only professionals use it and they do not bother posting about it. (I seriously doubt this being the reason, but its "Plausible").
2. Not too many Viper Pro's have been sold, and the odds of someone that has one to actually post about it are slim. (Plausible).
3. It is super great and often, when a product is great, people to do not bother posting about it. They just use it. (Plausible but unlikely).
4. The scope sucks, people returned it and do not feel like sharing their experience. (Plausible).
5. Marketing sucks. (Confirmed).
6. Can't think of any other reason. : )

Well, "doing" something, and "doing something" well, are two different things. The "concept" behind the MTC Viper Pro is great, but I believe that something going from concept to production went wrong. Yet it seems odd to me that the information/reviews on this scope is so rare?
See above...

I mean I’ve seen Ted’s video of talking about them but no real updates as to how it’s holding up for him.
I have seen Ted talk about it, but even he did not go ahead and make a "real" range tape. He just "MacGyvered" one together and called it a day. That said a lot to me.

I have only seems Matt Dubber’s review of the older model.
This speaks volumes as well, if you know what I mean!?
I’ve heard issue of the parallax adjuster. but nothing much else? Good or bad??
Not sure what those issues may have been? I never had any parallax issues with mine, but hey, what do I know, ha ha.

But I would think that this would be a hotter topic??
I thought the same thing when the scope came out, but apparently, people are so used to using hold over, that they seem to not really care about a scope with a range tape feature?

I ordered one. But because of the lack of feedback I’m second guessing my choice?
If you can return it without paying some sort of restocking fee, I would still get it and try it. See for yourself what is going on and how you like it.

A year down the track and I stil cannot find many reviews/opinions/experience for this scope.

Has anyone bought and used one? Because I really want that geared turret but two things hold me back...

1. 1 year warranty in Australia (a joke!)

2. Potentially cloudy glass

Any new opinions out there?

I am actually purchasing an SWFA SS 3-15x42 (on sale for US$499 at the moment... bargain) but just love the idea of that geared turret. Would be so handy. I want this MTC scope to good but fear it is not.

Cheers,

Justin

I have an MTC Viper Pro 5-30x50 scope. It has served me well with no issues on my FX ImpactX mounted with FX No Limits 30mm rings. However, on my long-range sniper rifles, I wouldn't even consider MTC. NightForce would be entry level. NF scopes are much better than MTC, of course, but Not as good as the German and Austrian scopes that cost more than NightForce. You, definitely, get what you pay for when it comes to most scopes. I feel that the latest MTC offerings are good enough for my FX ImpactX and would not put anything more expensive on it or any other airgun. I am sure others will disagree.
