MTC Connect vs SWFA SS

I'm starting a new thread to follow up on my previous one re: scope choice.

Now comparing:

Vs
http://swfa.com/SWFA-SS-10x42M-Tactical-Riflescope-P53713.aspx

These scopes are quite a bit different in features and design but about the same price.

I tend to leave the magnification on one setting so fixed vs variable is not really that important to me.

The MTC is popular with the HFT guys with a number of recent winners using it. The almost zero eye relief is unusual and probably takes some getting used to and it cannot be mounted on anything with recoil, and that includes medium power springers like the HW35, HW97, etc. But, it's an air rifle specific scope and apparently excels for range estimation and hold over for the ranges that we typically shoot.

The PB crowd seem to really like the SWFA SS scopes. I like the reticle on that one a lot and especially like that it's a Mil/Mil scope (the turrets and the reticle are both Milradian rather than MOA). The MTC has Mil reticle and MOA turrets.

Would the SWFA be as appropriate for air gun range shots? Strelok has this reticle and I played with the app a bit to see what the aim point looks like with different variables that one might see with it mounted on airguns. Looks pretty good and it has the added advantage of 'normal' eye relief so it can be mounted on most anything-- PCP, springer or PB.

Anyone out there have experience with the SWFA?

Thanks,

Matt

I went with the SWFA. The SS 10x42 MMQ.

The main reason I decided against the MTC Connect is that the manufacturer recommended against mounting it on my spring guns.

Things I like about the SWFA:
  • the glass is very clear
  • mid-adjust focus
  • mil/mil design (reticle and turrets calibrated in milliradians)
  • the reticle markings are thin, very sharp and show up well
  • lots of reticle subtensions for range estimation, hold over, and windage
Overall, I like it a lot so far. I have it on my AA200 and it's big improvement from the UTG Bugbuster 3-9x32 that I had on there previously.

I haven't mounted it a springer but I do plan to try it on my HW35. It's a bit scary to me to mount a $400 scope on a spring gun! I hope it doesn't break the scope... fingers crossed!
