All six of my rifles have now been professionally tuned, and the pre-tune to post tune performance differences are amazing. All of these rifles often exceed what I believe would be the practical limits of a “pellet rifle,” producing tremendously tight groups within their practical power range virtually every time.
For those with interest, I have posted a link to a .pdf indicating my post-tune chronograph results for six different rifles, all either tuned by Scott Schneider at Motorhead Air Gun Tuning Services or Ken Hicks at Southern Precision Air Weapons. All groups were shot with pellets pulled "straight from the tins," with no presorting or individual weighing. The specific pellets selected are the pellets (after trying about everything available) that have consistently demonstrated they are at least one of the very best performing pellets in the particular rifle indicated. Each of these rifles have experienced far more than 1000 rounds post tune, so they should have "settled" in by now, and by the results indicated below, I would say they have.
The biggest surprise was the standard deviation results for the two spring rifles - producing results most would be happy with in a pcp.
The second biggest surprise is how well my RW HP shoots at mid and low power levels. While not as laser like as the JSB 25.39 Monster Redesigneds on Hi Power, out to 75 yards the AA 18.3 gr pellets hold an amazingly tight group. The chrono results indicate at least some of the reason why.
Enjoy:
