Motor Oil lube for pellets?

I dropped a bunch of my copper plated .22 kodiak's the other day, picked em up, went home and washed them , dried them off and I didn't have any pellet lube. So I used a couple of drops of motor oil on them, they look new but I was wondering if there's any down sides to using motor oil, as in can it damage my gun or suppressor or pellets or anything or should it be fine?

With a hydrocarbon based oil you can have dieseling where the oil ignites in the barrel from the pressure leaving carbon deposits and as pointed out shortening o-ring life in addition to creating a condition of varying pressure behind the pellets leading to POI shifts from shot to shot. Not the best thing to do. Now if your motor oil is entirely synthetic silicone based you should be just fine!

oh man fired like 8 shots with these pellets, shouldn't have damaged my gun I'm guessing?

My sized Eun Jin Heavies are washed in warm water dried in a soft cloth and then sprayed with a very, very light touch of Slick 50. They then are rolled in a soft cloth and then sized to .254 for my Condor. A very, very light spray is also on a cloth on the bottom of the can.

It does not matter if you lube your pellets (that is up to you) but if you do, you want a synthetic lube.
