Tuning More packages on the porch another mod for the Gen1 Impact. Shroud time it is.

Well once again, the voices they were getting a little loud. They said I should check the porch for packages. So, I climbed the stairs, and went and opened the front door, just to appease the voices of the addiction, cuz the delivery drivers often quietly sneak packages onto the porch without me noticing somehow. Sure enough there was a package there. I scooped it up and carried it to the basement to see what trouble was enclosed inside. Sliced the large plastic envelope open with a pair of scissors so I would not damage the contents and found several more packages inside.

First package was my new Yong Heng piston set.

Next were the Yong Heng Stainless steel lines for the Good Deed compressor repair.

The other two packages contained carbon fiber tube in two different diameters.

Aliexpress order came through with my order in a couple of weeks so they did good.

My Gen1 Impact had been sitting there waiting for it's the new carbon fiber shroud for over a week now, I was tired of hearing it complain, so I got to werq.

Picked up a .22 barrel off of the classifieds some time ago. Made a new shroud for it and put a 300cc tank on it and called it good. But the Frankensteined together shroud, with the long air stripper, and the barrel it came with kept haunting me. Late at night when the world was sleeping and things were oh so quiet I would here it taunting me. What about me, it would whisper quietly. What about me. So finally late one night, or very early in the morning some might say, I grabbed it up and pulled the stripper out. Pulled the DIY shroud off of the Impact and screwed it on the barrel. Ah, all I need is some carbon fiber tube and I can have a shroud that will quiet the gun down, without a moderator, and let me use my 480cc tank for more shots.

So that is what I did. No more complaints from the Impact do I hear and the whispering of the air stripper only happens when I shoot the gun now.

Made a Delrin adapter for the back of the shroud and turned the air stripper down to fit the CF tube.

I did not even screw anything up this time and it all fit together just right. Made it ever so slightly longer so it would tension the barrel a bit. Screwed it on the gun and it is done. Even with the longer 480cc bottle the overall length is down by one inch now.

Fired a single shot to see how it would perform and found it is quiet and basement friendly. Then I sighted it in with a few more shots and it's ready to go. Adding a moderator makes it even quieter.

So, one more mod accomplished and another mod to go yet.
