More mischief in the formerly golden state

Hi to those in CA and everyone!

Saw this and wanted to pass on shooters in California. The denizens of the North are trying to ban lead ammo AT SHOOTING RANGES in our Wonderful State (see below). Please consider contacting your state representatives before it is voted into law.

Friday, February 21, was the bill introduction deadline in the California legislature. We anticipate the legislature will make another aggressive push at our Second Amendment Rights and hunting heritage in the Golden State. At this time, the full picture of what we can expect from the introduced bills is not clear because of placeholder/spot bills that are common ahead of the deadline. Your NRA will continue to keep you updated as the bills evolve, however, gun owners should be aware of two incredibly dangerous bills that were introduced.

AB 3071, sponsored by Assembly Member Kevin Mullin (D-22), prohibits the use of ammunition that has not been certified as lead free at sport shooting ranges and indoor ranges. It also prohibits shooting ranges from selling or giving away ammunition that has not been certified as lead free and requires signage that lead ammunition is prohibited for use at the facilities.

What's next?

Banning lead wheel weights?

Lead keeled sailboats?

Solder?

Crystal?

Diving belts?

Admittedly, more than 1 million children every year are diagnosed with lead poisoning. However, I don't believe they contracted it by eating spent bullets or pellets. All the indoor ranges I've ever shot in have filtered exhausts and the lead is recycled.

It's a back door to gun control. My range will be forced to stop shooting airguns all together if this passes. The wording of the law says lead is banned from on site not lead firearm bullets or anything like that. I hate the government with every fiber of my being. The constitution is pretty much just a bad joke at this point. I'll make my case. We don't have a 1st ammendment because hate speech is illegal now in many states, you don't have a 2nd amendment because duh the government infringement is everywhere, 3rd ammendment died forever ago you can't have an army of civilians, 4th ammendment gets hosed by checkpoints and stop and frisk laws, 5th because cops say your impeding an investigation if you don't incriminate yourself and guys I can do this for every single ammendment. It's just a matter of time before they claim big bore airguns are "ghost guns" and a perfect assassin weapon because of the silencer loop hole. I'm not kidding guys it never ends. We all need to pick up the phone, write our congressmen and take to the streets every time they try to take another God given right. I'm not even talking about just the 2nd amendment. I also am not just talking about conservatives here. Conservatives this year made the tapps act and red flag laws so yeah this has to be an everybody kind of thing. That's how they take away our rights they play us off each other. If you like your airgun rights you should stand up for all rights. Rant complete.

I’m sure the moderators will kill this thread and justifiably. Our rights are diminishing pretty much only because there are too many of us. All other causes real or imagined relate directly to that fact.

We as humans are selfish and aggressive by nature.

Two’s company and three is a crowd is the problem guys. Been that way from the beginning of time. We pretty much don’t need each other ( or we will not admit to same) so we let our basic instincts come to the fore.

Compromise comes from necessity and anything which is considered to be against our own best interest is always seen as wrong or unfair.

Our constitution right ARE diminished. Largely out of necessity. Population change from 1776 to 2020 is the cause not some conspiracy to take what is yours.

Consider what has happen in the last 100 years and what will happen in the next. Think complaining will help or feeling sorry for ourselves ?

We need to look out for the EARTH first and we better learn better how to live with each other. Feeling put off because you have lost “rights” is understandable but it’s not going to help find any path to a future which while not without regrets is workable.

Yea we’re likely to have to give up lead bullets and maybe many of our guns but we have to live within our communities.

We have to do what’s best for our children and grandchildren and some of it is difficult and a bitter pill for us older folk to accept.

Not sure what overpopulation has to do with it (except for the population of politicians), but this kind of heavy-handed governance fits with anti-gun harassment and agendas.

For example California prop 65 requires warnings when hazardous substances are present - a recent case having to do with acrylamide in coffee:

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/health/2019/06/04/does-coffee-cause-cancer-california-backtracks-says-risk-low/1338781001/

So instead of prohibiting lead in shooting ranges - why not require posted signs indicating the presence of lead hazard? Pretty much every shooter already knows this, but signs would remind people to be careful and allow shooters to take the risk or not.

Over population has nothing to do with it? One guy shoots a 100 shots. A thousand guys shoots 100,000. So how many does a million guys shoot?

Simple math . A ton of lead going into the ground rather then a pound.

Its not the only factor involved but tell me what’s more important?

Why are rules of any type required? Why can’t we fire canons out our back doors ? Cause there are people out there in the way. The more people the more rules?

I didn’t think there would be any disagreement on this but it shows just how impossible it is to agree on anything.
