Any body have luck with a mono pod? I bought one and tried it from a sitting position on my chair. No so good at all. Couldn't tell where the shots were going. Much better off using knees and elbows. Is there a trick to them? Thanks...

I use one with my .556 for nite hog hunting, while walking/stalking the heard in large open pastures and Florida scrub. Always standing and adjusted for correct height. Key for me is positioning the rifle so its balanced perfectly front to rear. Very important to find that fulcrum point between the rifle and monopod and place the rifle there every time. Makes for a steady accurate almost effortless standing shot(s) with monopods...

I made a riser for my mono pod. I bought an inexpensive one at Wlmrt. It wasn't tall enough so I made an 11" adapter. Took a 1" dowel (from a broken weed whacker handle) tapped both ends for 1/4 20 tpi, inserted a stud I made from a 1/4 20 x 1 1/4 bolt(cut head off), painted black, gorrila glued stud one end and other on to stud, reassembled .Works good and sturdy. Thanks for the advice on how to use use it..I like it
