Taking a shot at building my own moderator for my Zbroia FC 550 .22 cal. I’m pretty good at reverse engineering but I’ve got nothing to go by for this project. I’ll be using 1 1/2” aluminum thin wall tube. .025” thick. I’ve got two different lengths the short one has an internal length of 3 3/4” and the long one has an internal length of 6 1/2”. What should I use for sound dampening material and how much ? What you see in my photo is basic packing foam. The yellow disk/baffle is foam core board. And then I have some heavyweight felt that is used for mufflers in industrial blowers and vacuum pumps. Also I read (but can’t find the thread) about drilling a few small holes at the back end of the shroud. I feel that’s something I should do.
So, if you’ve made a suppressor what did you put inside of it ? Any other helpful criticism would be appreciated.
Thanks
