Update: 3000psi tank where and how

I feel for you. This gets expensive. I would only caution you that compromise has always cost me more in the end. Buying less then what you need or want may end up with disappointment and the need to spend more. I’d talk to the sakes guys at AOA or Joe Brancato who sells this stuff 

Something to consider here... A 3000 psi tank will fill your Maximus to 3000 psi exactly one time. Every fill after that will be a partial. The cost jump from those self contained, very reliable springer or gas ram airguns goes ballistic when it comes to PCP's. To be able to get bunch of fills you would need a 4500 psi tank. Although I do not have one, a lot of shooters have good luck with one of the less expensive Chinese compressors. You could just fill your gun with one of those instead of using a hand pump and skip the tank. Good Luck.

You might also consider getting a used 4,500 psi carbon fiber fireman tank which can be found for $60-120 dollars depending on the "use by date" and supplementing it with a small pump like the Yong Heng ($200.) As leadfoot said, that will give you many full pressure fills instead of just one. It will also be a smaller lighter package and give you independence and save you time running around to fill shops.

Agree, I have purchased 3 SCBA tanks and fill stations in hydro and years left on usable life in the last year. All under $200. You can fill a SCBA to lower pressure until you get your compressor.

Most guns are 3000 fill. We know you can't get them fill to 4500 psi that's why the guys are suggesting you get a cheap $200-250 yong Heng compressor to fill yourself. It comes with everything you needed to fill you gun or tank. If you can't afford that idk what to say. It pays itself in a year. A 3000 psi are made of heavy aluminum. While 4500psi tank are carbon fiber. Which is stronger and lighter. 4500 psi tank is the way to go. You don't even need to fill it to 4500 psi duh. If 3000 psi is your desire. You can still fill it just to 3000 psi. If you don't want to take these guys suggestions on a cheap yong heng compressor plus a used carbon fiber tank, idk why you even bother to ask. Just saying. You could of easily just use eBay or goggle up a aluminum 3000 psi tank.

Wonder what happened to the life extended carbon fiber 4500 psi tanks that were supposedly coming soon at a much lower price?

You need the same certification for a scuba tank as you need for a SCBA. Hydro and dating. All you need to fill a SCBA is a male to male Foster fitting $7 plus fill station. An extended life SCBA was about $250 plus tank.

 When i 1st got into pcp i bought a used 3,000psi scuba tank off craigslist for $35 and the air venturi for $100 from PA. Tank recertification and fill was $50.

As stated above I only fill to 2000psi not 3000psi. I am aware of how filling works I just didn't know the needed materials and certifications and such on these things. Also I cannot get 4500psi tanks filled in my area, but i appreciate the input guys. I've owned several rifles which required 3000psi and more but after a few years and several PCPs later, I like simple and I have 2 that do all I want.
