If you’re so desperate to have to hunt to put food on the table, sell your fancy PCP, buy a cheap .22LR and go for it.
Personally I don’t believe things are so bad in any state where a government shutdown forces anyone to hunt to feed their family to stay alive.

I’m really confused. What shutdown? Are we talking the 20% partial government shutdown? I’m at a loss as to how that shuts down an entire blue state? Anyway hopefully we can stay away from politics here on AGN, and not get into whose fault the mini shutdown is... Just my two cents.

it all 50 state are shut down not in one state it all state iam near big city 170 miles away there think about shut down ebt as the first thing to go it the left for not help out this not poltic it really about hunt in case this dont end shift is apon us actually it happen to me before every one so find way get food on table for it too late and we have 31 day in this month it all 21 in HQ shut down it start in dec this jan soon feb

The federal gov. has a shutdown. States are still operating. Trust me. If you need assistance go to your county office it is still open. This is just a federal shutdown, it is not the end of the world. Life will go on. This is not an apocalypse. It is just a bunch a childish politicians who can't agree, so they are withholding funding until other side breaks. Most to all federal employees (including myself) are being forced to work without pay. Nobody is complaining about it but you. Nobody here wants to hear your complaining. So, if you need extra $, do a day of work for someone who is not affected by the shutdown, then buy food with the money they give you. It would be much more productive than hunting for small scraps of meat with your air rifle.

There is more to be gained by digging holes through snow drifts than to argue with blacksword.

Wow, speaking of shoveling, I just shoveled about 8 inches of wet snow off my 40yd driveway. Told the neighbor if you see me go down tell the better half I did it for her. I’m not as young as I used to be, but got the job done. I would have gladly given some kid $20 to do it but those types aren’t around anymore it seems. That or I suppose I could give a guy a dozen eggs, pound of bacon, and a loaf of bread. For now though I still take some pride in doing it myself, but that day is coming. Now that’s done, time to get some blood on the snow. Coyote back straps anyone? Heard they taste like chicken!

hunted ducks, geese, deer, and turkeys for most of my life. i grew up in south louisiana and there's a reason the license plates used to say "sportman's paradise". arguably the best fishing in the country and same goes with waterfowl hunting-all thanks to the extensive fresh, brackish, and saltwater marshes. i used to dive and spearfish quite a bit off the oil platforms in the gulf too. it's fair to say in those days i was addicted to goose hunting and spearfishing-there's nothing quite like that rush. anyway, i've never had to hunt or fish to provide food -it was always for fun but i think airguns are great for food gathering. in particular, break barrels since there's less parts and there's an unlimited supply of air. good luck and i hope it doesn't come to it but you sound like you know what you're doing.

Thank you Davidsng for staying on. My father was a GS9 and he too worked during shutdowns but he always got paid eventually. The media makes it sound like the workers will never get paid but that's just not true
