Look at his other posts. Guy is either a loon or a troll. The ban hammer needs to drop soon.

Hey man, lighten up. BLACKSWORD is an Airgunnation member just like you and me . Yes, some of his posts can be hard to digest, but he has every right to participate and to solicit other people's opinions. If it offends you, just skip over his posts and have a happy day.

As I read the OP, he is worried about the Federal Gov't shut down. Kudos to those who are willing and able to fend for themselves. I do believe that the kabuki theater will go on for another few weeks, and there will be fall out in the end. I don't want to talk Politics here, as this is my escape from the everyday crazy..

Peace to y'all, and shoot'em good.

Take the .177 out. I do it (but with a .22). I haven't bought red meat since hunting season started. I use my .22 for squirrels and my crossbow for deer. Only "meat" I buy is chicken. Last year I shot 5 whitetail and it lasted till about 3 weeks before the season started. Kills me to have to buy ground beef. This year I have gotten 5 so far with 3 weeks left. Hope to stick one more.

Good luck

I take no issues hunting / trapping for meat. I try not to waste any part of the animal too, boiling stock, dehydrating, and skins.

I have a daughter entering the junior high school age. She's been raised in the big city all of her life. What I have found difficult is passing on the skills and the importance of those skills on to her without creating extreme circumstances (e.g. going out in the mountains on multi-day trips without bringing much / any food). That's been the only way to get a kid from the "entitled" generation raised in the city to identify with hunger, and the importance of knowing how to survive.

In my view, you have to do what you have to do to feed your family. You can't rely on anyone to do that for you.
