How big is Airgun Nation?

Having worked with moderators on a forum in the past I can honestly say that with just an inkling of understanding, I can see how Ted reached his tipping point. I have been noticing Michael’s involvement since I joined. I’ve also seen a couple of moderators respond relatively swiftly when needed. We also have a pretty solid community with a knowledgeable and pretty down-to-earth group of core members who really make these forums feel like a home for airgunners, casual hobbyists, hunters, and competitors alike. I wasn’t aware of the details of the site’s structure or hierarchy. The history is interesting and I appreciate the dialog that the platform affords us to learn, share ideas, experiences, and other information concerning airguns. Keep up the good work AGN.

Wow, small world... I'll apologize now for adding to the pellet shortage... I started watching some YouTube vids on Air rifles... googled air rifle forums and found this place a couple of months ago. I watched a lot of videos of a guy who always wore white framed sun glasses...Never made the connection until now. Purchased my first PCP and started down the rabbit hole.

It's a great forum and I'm happy to be part of it, Good on Ted for putting family first, there the most important thing, and Michael ...You have done a good job here, be proud of it.

That 12 million figure is over thee life of the forum. 200-300k views monthly ...

The 600,000 users is another inflated number. That is total, and not current or active...

Active membership comparable to the disparity between the TOTAL page views in the life of the site versus MONTHLY page views.......

Seriously be real. Stop it Michael.

Theres tik tok videos that get more views in a week than this site has over its entire existence. Tooting your own horn in a clown car I see.

Limpact,

What the heck?

The Google analytic Michael shared clearly depicts "Year To Date" numbers for the dates selected, January 1 until now, not lifetime. The Google provided analytic clearly shows this.

And Michael didn't "toot his own horn." He answered the thread starters question with kindness accuracy, & enthusiasm.

Why so mean spirited towards such a wonderful thing? Is this not something to be truly celebrated by those of us that call AGN home?

At 63 years old and still shooting an air rifle — well QUITE FRANKLY I FELT A LITTLE EMBARRASSED.

Then I discovered this forum and PCP's.....

Yeah, we should all be embarrassed for shooting airguns at our respective ages....

NOT!!! 🤣

Because in all of us lives that little boy. And that little boy is the one that keeps shooting airguns at age 63, or 52, or 74, or 85....! 😄

This backstory reminds me of the history of the old yellow forum. Tom and Edith pulled the plug since it was eating the flesh off their bones. I’m certainly grateful for Ted giving birth to this terrific site and especially appreciative for Michael moving this site into the future. Thanks Michael. We can’t see all that he’s doing behind the curtain but he’s keeping the machine oiled and keeping the clutter to a minimum. For those, like me, that appreciate this fine forum for exchanging ideas and experiences with this hobby I believe it’s important to keep the infighting to a minimum and check our egos at the door otherwise this fine platform might disappear.

You can pound your chest for the first amendment all you want, but the truth is that without fair and sensible moderation forums decay. Bullies and profiteers roll in. Constructive conversations turn to pissing matches, and in no time a source of information and camaraderie turns into just another Internet crap-hole. The good folks will simply move on.

So, this brings me to the future of AGN, and with that I should tell you what I think of Michael. He’s a good man – the right man for this job – level, honest, fair.

True dat. Ted. True dat.

Wow. Aggressive and unnecessary. He answered the question posed, and offered the information on total users vs active users.

Impact,

He joined a little over a month ago and had 14 posts before he was recently blocked. He has an aggressive nature but wouldn’t categorize it as trolling. Actually if you search his name and read his posts it’s readily apparent that he has some significant airgun experience. Yes, IMHO he crossed the line with his post on this thread. Peace

OK, Odoyle...

Michael & Ted, I felt it was easy to see both of you were under a strain yet I never felt let down. From Ted's moral compass not to waste meat from his kills and sharing recipes to the rifle reviews, time spent testing for the smallest groups with combinations of rifles and pellets. pushing the use of chrony's and range finders to make spectacular shots. I remember Michael going through all the valve and hammer spring settings with the "new" Fx impact to show us the most efficient settings for shot count and for power and range. Then came the rifle drawings and coupons for discounts. the shooting contests and prizes. I don't feel Ted "cut" and ran. It was pretty clear it cost him a lot or time away from his new and expanding family. And Michael you jumped in and took over the reins and Made the forum work. You found ways to regulate conduct, to have the forum pay for itself , get people to scan the posts and maintain civility, the simple few "laws of the forum" This forum has improved our knowledge of how the air rifled operate and how to repair and regasket them and so much more. The good manufactures read our comments and listen to us plus they even use the forum to announce new items. The forum has improved my life and helped me get through the pandemic lockdown. I have new friends to email with , ask questions etc. There's so much more I can't even remember it now . 600,000 members and how many more don't belong yet read the posts. You guy's along with Axelton Improved scopes for us. That is impressive. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR EFFORTS

THE GREAT MAJORITY OF US LIKE THIS FORUM. I ESPECIALLY LIKE THE EFFORTS MADE TO "POLICE " THE FORUM AND THE EXCHANGE OF GOODS ON THE FOR SALE FORUM ( CHEMO BRAIN I CAN'T REMEMBER IT'S TITLE) IF YOU DON'T LIKE AGN START YOUR OWN. WE'VE SEEN THE RESULTS OF THAT BEFORE AND HAVER WATCH OTHERS DETERIORATE OVER TIME WITHOUT THOUGHT FULL MODERATION.

Kudo's to you two for creating & managing such an awesome forum, and thank you for sharing your very personal & moving testimony on AGN's inception, as well as publishing AGN's site metrics. While very technical, learning about AGN's history and it's vast user base indeed gives me the confidence to know, that when I post an airgun related question or opine about air gunning accoutrements, there's a very high probability that not only will you get a response, but a choice of solutions to pick from. When you consolidate so many individuals from all walks of life and from seemingly most corners of the world, AGN to me, is and looks to be an exceptional resource for all things airgun related. I'm very glad I finally became a member of such a fine forum and look forward to participating and corresponding with others in this forum, as I look to grow my burgeoning airgun knowledge base.

It was "L Impact" a user name selected by a person who doesn't think highly of the Impact. I have no opinion on the rifle but when a user selects a name specifically to troll an entire group of users I take notice. Yes, I noticed that he joined back in June and I read every single pose of his. I don't care one bit how you would personally characterize his posts. It may be "really apparent" to you that he has some "significant experience". It is not apparent to me.
