Me vs Inner Me

While working on my Armada, i removed the shroud and suppressors so the barrel was unsupressed.

Me: I should probably put the shroud and suppressor back on.

Inner Me: You’ve never heard this gun unsuppressed before. Five years is long enough.

Me: 🤔

Inner Me: 😇

My ears: 🤕

No more smithing until I’ve had my coffee… and I have a new respect for Benjamin’s engineering.

Your post is applicable to all airguns. There's something about airguns that inspires the inner detective.

I did the same thing with my HW95K. I recently bought a laser boresight. To install it on my HW95 I had to remove the moderator. After sighting in, I was about to put the moderator back on, but simply had to test the gun without the moderator. I found that the short barrel on the HW95K has a bit of a crack and is definitely quieter with a moderator.

But then my curiosity got worse. I had a PARD NV008 scope on the gun. I aligned its laser and crosshairs to the boresight laser. In other words, all three were fixed on the same point at about 15 yards. Two lasers and a set of crosshairs all on the same point.

I removed the boresight. Then I fired some pellets at the target. I figured the pellets would hit the PARD's laser dot, or perhaps a little low. But they struck at least an inch to the right, indicating the path has a significant horizontal component. Interesting.

Now the detective Inner Me is on the warpath!
