Maximum range of pellets.

I never saw that either but I know with my guns about where accuracy and power drops off , Id like to see article ,

I know my guns in 22 accurately at 100 yd

the 25 cal about 125 yds

30 cal 150 yds ,

this is as far as my guns can hit accurately with out heavy winds , sure we all hit things further but I am saying , constantly hit its mark , now with slugs it is much further and winds can be much heavier as the BC is over double of pellets , I also found with my slugs , My guns are more accurate shooting very heavy slugs slower then ligher slugs faster

Found it. Not up to date with the new slugs. With 2X the bc you get the idea of how far slugs will travel.

Chairgun has an 'Maximum Range' calculator in the drop down of tools. Input your rifles information and then pick the angle or incline of the shot and it will give you the maximum range of the arc traveled, maximum height and maximum horizontal distance traveled. I use this information when shooting slugs and checking Google Maps for the safe areas without houses or other structures around. Bill

Here is the max. range info on my FX Crown w/380mm barrel shooting the Hades

AirgunBill,

that is a hugely useful function of ChairGun — and I still can't believe that Hawke threw it to the hawks at finances to gobble it up — shut down, finis.

At least, if someone could get the formula, then maybe would could convince Boris of Strelok Pro to add that function for us. I'd gladly pay extra for that to have that function on my cellphone. 😊

oldtommo68,

🔶 the ChairGun chart AirgunBill posted above has the following columns (left to right):

At "Angle" (e.g., 5⁰),

the pellet will reach as far as the maximum "Range (x)" (337.3y),

and reach a maximum trajectory "Height (y)" (36ft),

that trajectory height will be reached at the "Range" (210y),

and it will take "Time" (2.9083s) to get to the maximum range.

Correct me if I got this wrong! 😊

Yeah, a little confusing, the terms, but ChairGun is a very helpful program. ➔ I'd be willing to pay good money (up to $30) if someone took this program under their programming wings and sold the updated and improved versions....

Any takers...? Over at GTA a lot of people also seem to be using it, several British airgun forums have more than twice the amount of members than the larger US forums, so plenty of users who'd chip in, I'd hope.

🔶 I did some calculations about how far different pellets and slugs can reach out — and still do damage. Those are two different issues, it seems.

Here's what I found:
PART 1: How Much Remaining Energy Is Dangerous?
Research-based data on how much energy is necessary to do damage to the skin and to the eye.

AND:
PART 2: Max. Range and Remaining Energy at Impact

Comparing the max. range of various .22cal projectiles:
▪low-BC Wadcutter (RWS)
▪mediocre-BC hollow point pellet (Hades)
▪high-BC domed pellet (JSB 16)
▪high-BC, very heavy domed pellet (Monster)
▪extra high-BC slug (22gr)
