Max power for .22 leshiy (350mm)?

I saw somewhere that someone had thier .25 Leshiy shooting 25.4 grain Kings at 900fps is this right? If so then the 350mm .22 should be able to push 18.1's near 30fpe, wondering what the shotcount would like? With or without a Huma upgrade. I put my Leshiy up for sale because I decided I'd like to have a 30fpe .22 to do some longer range plinking and pesting (past 50 yards) but have been thinking why not just get a 350mm .22 setup? The only question is shot count. I can deal with a somewhat low shot count but anything under 20 would kill me lol.

Grateful for any input, thanks!

Hey Tweeter,

The Huma upgrade is a must for those extra few shots. I ended up shooting the .22 250mm ,the .22 350mm,and the .25 250 all at 108 BAR. I love playing with this little guy. My short set-up that fits in a 1400 Pelican case is the .25 250mm with the 25.4's that put me at put me at 746 FPS for about 18 shots. My long set-up is the .22 350mm with the 18.1's at 886 FPS for again around 18 shots. Depends on your HST and I would follow Brian's EGW tune. Now....my notes tell me if you want a 20 shot gun start at 260 Bar and set the reg to 105 Bar with the .22 350mm and you'll hit your mark at 20 or so. My testing is usually around 70 to 80 Degrees. I shot it as high as 130 Bar. I really found diminishing returns above 115 Bar with wasted air, lower shot count and more noise. My next little gun would be the Leyla.

Cheers,Scott

Thanks Scott, it certainly sounds doable. It is amazing the power that can be squeezed out of this gun really. I'm sure the gun jumps quite a bit at that power level? How is the accuracy and how far have you tried stretching it?

I would have gotten a Lelya 2.0 if there was space to mount a bipod, other than that it looks like a sweet gun. I shoot from the bench 95% of the time and need a bipod.

Ya know Tweeter, I've seen your gun posted and the other .177 Leshiy and both are very tempting. I've been eyeing this gun for about 4-5 months and I love the versatility it offers. I'd probably go for a .22 short for messing around inside and a .25 long for some more powerful distance shooting. It really sounds like you are on the fence about selling it and I'd recommend hanging onto it and trying out a few more barrel options before you sell. No point in sellers remorse around the holidays...... ;)

I think you do get sentimental with airguns. At least your Leshiy, I have seen all your posts on at least two forums. I have been a Leshiy owner for a year or so. Even with a few little issues, it isn't going anywhere. But I know what it is and what it is not. If you want to be a long bomber, buy a long bomber gun but keep your Leshiy. I have 3 guns that are 100yrd shooters. They lay in a bag or sit on a bipod and don't even move when you squeeze the trigger. But, they are not fun for what the Leshiy shines at, and you know what that is. On the other side of the coin, the quality of the Leshiy is capable of tiny 100yrd groups but ergonomically it cant do it, even with a 550mm barrel. You don't need to spend $1500 for a 100yrd shooter. My buddy has a $500 Air Force International Orion. Its not even regulated but we found the sweet spot for 30 shots and he can match my Tiapan Veteran all day long at 100. Lastly, if you have to sell a gun to finance another, you are in the wrong hobby. Keep your Leshiy and just buy it a big brother. It will come in handy, trust me.

By the way, my .22 350mm tune is 830fps for 20+ shots. Sorry I cant remember where my Huma reg is set. It was recommended that I set it lower than the factory reg and I did. I just cant remember. I have too many guns and forget to write things down sometimes. I will say that it is a way better behaving and accurate gun with the long barrel. If it was my only gun I would leave it long and buy a bigger backpack.

A warning for the Lelya2.0 in .22: It is EXTREMELY noisy!!! (In stark contrast to the Leshiy...)

At normal power levels for the 16 and 18 gr. JSBs (say 30FPE and 275mps (meters per second) for the 18gr.) with the reg at 120bar, this thing blasts your ear (which is right by the magazine, where the exact same noise level as at the muzzle is measured...) with WELL over 100 dBA!!! (102 to be precise) Yes that is quite damaging to your hearing!!!

With the AGW/DonnyFL baffle with (1/2UNF threads) and a Weirauch moderator and a decrease in power to only 19FPE it gets ‘down’ to 90 dBA. Unfortunately while being quite (not quiet;-) a reduction, it is still VERY LOUD, and quite damaging to one’s hearing.

Bottomline: 90 dBA for a -moderated- .22 (not a big bore!) and not shooting slugs at high energy levels but regular 16gr. JSBs at a low power level of only 19FPE is simply put: ridiculously loud!

Contact with Ed did not get a satisfactory solution, (only that the Lelya in .25 is less noisy, not a real help if one has the .22...)

The Lelya 2.0 is an incredible pellet stacker (even when shot freehand!), but unfortunately it TOTALLY lacks the stealthiness you get with the Leshiy, so you will also require protection to prevent damage to your hearing.

Well yes there is blow past coming out of the magazine, not sure it is from the oring, (it shouldn't cause Ed gave me the advise to put a plastic washer behind it, so I 3D printed one and put it in) but the air exits via the mag. Doesn't happen all the time, and for the sound level measured it makes no difference whether measured at the muzzle or the breech side (I measured with a digital sound pressure meter, not a smartphone app...)

I think there are very little Lelyas2.0 in.25 out there, it seems that everybody and their mother needs a .25 these days (which undoubtfully must be because all the guys at EBR are all over that caliber... (Quite funny to see that a measly .22 won it this year though... :) )
