Maverick is trademarked?

This is interesting. Was looking at Facebook groups today and saw this. If Maverick is trademarked when it comes to airguns in US, is there grounds for lawsuit if FX imports their gun to US???

The word “maverick” itself can not be trademarks, BUT when it is used in specific scope I think the word can be used. Like Ford can trademark the Ford Maverick (in that context), however, only that context. For example, FX can use FX Maverick, which can be trademarked, and Crossman and so on.

Years back when Trump was on the Apprentice he tried to trademark “You’re Fired” in the broadest sense, he got a flat out NO by the US trademark and patent office.

Technically speaking, Google can’t trademark the word Google anymore because google is part of common language. The word google is in English dictionaries to mean “searching the internet to find” or a mathematical number.” Google CAN trademark their logo, but not the word.

You trademark words, phrases, and logos in context or industry. I searched through some of the US database real quick and didn't see it so it must not be active anymore. But i did find Meateater has Maverick trademarked for game calls, so nobody else can use the word Maverick as a name for an animal call. Thats not EXACTLY how the trademarks work, but thats how a judge would rule in a trademark infringement case, whoever has it registered in that industry gets it.

You can see several mavericks on the list, some are fencing companies, electronics, and other things. Id do more digging to try and find the air gun trademark but i really dont care that much. Just thought it could be a cool conversation
